The Big Dipper 🌟 ✨ Transforming black ink into gold, green, blue and violet hues with bleach 🖤💜💙💚💛 I first marked off the Big Dipper stars with a Chinagraph pencil (by @staedtlermars ), wet my cotton watercolor paper (by @arches.art ), then dropped in black ink ( Quink by @parkerpen ), followed by drops of bleach. Like magic! ✨ 🎶 Waking Stars by Kai Engel

Barnacles & lice give the Gray Whale it's distinctive mottled pattern. Using a Chinagraph pencil (by @staedtlermars ) I made random "resist" splotches to recreate the Gray Whale skin patterning. Sparkly gemstone Kyanite watercolor (by @danielsmithartistsmaterials ) is the perfect whale color for me🙂🖌🐋 Painted on 640gsm cotton watercolor paper by @arches.art 🎶 Denouement by Kai Engel
Better than a box of jewels and chocolates! 💎🍬 These are watercolors that you can draw with! If you've ever felt uncomfortable with traditional painting methods, this could be your way to create watercolor pieces. Just like regular watercolors, they can still be used with a brush. 🖌 I'll be experimenting with these gorgeous watercolor sticks from @danielsmithartistsmaterials and sharing the results with you.
