Making his solo tenor début, Dr Gavan Ring will be singing the role of Frederic in Gilbert and Sullivan ‘The Pirates of Penzance’ Sunday 2nd June, 7.30pm. An alumnus of the National Opera Studio in London, Gavan is also the youngest graduate to complete doctoral studies at the Royal Irish Academy of Music. Gavins concert highlights include performances with the London Symphony Orchestra at the @bbc_proms and Lucerne Festival under Sir Simon Rattle, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment at the Royal Festival Hall under Sir Mark Elder, while his Opera highlights include leading roles at Opéra Royal de Versailles, Glyndebourne, Welsh National Opera, Scottish Opera, Opera North, Garsington Opera and many more! Cork-born soprano Kim Sheehan will be singing the role of Mabel in Gilbert and Sullivan ‘The Pirates of Penzance’ Sunday 2nd June, 7.30pm. A graduate with distinction and the Gold Medal from DIT Conservatory of Music, Dublin, Kim was also awarded a scholarship at the Royal College of Music & Benjamin Britten International Opera School, London. Kim has sung many of the roles in the coloratura repertoire in Germany, Switzerland, the UK and Ireland working with companies such as the Royal Opera House, Zürich Opera House and Wexford Festival Opera to name but a few. Irish-American contralto, Gráinne Gillis, will be singing the role of Ruth in Gilbert and Sullivan ‘The Pirates of Penzance’ Sunday 2nd June, 7.30pm. A recipient of the Doc Gleeson award, Capriccio prize and two Italian government scholarships, Gráinne is an individual of many talents. After graduating from UCC, she attended the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School where she trained as an actress. She still works as a voiceover artist in the UK, and is an experienced audiobook narrator. Since re-training as an opera singer, she has worked as an Emerging Artist for Opera della Luna in The Gondoliers.
