Did you know? ☀️ #Retinol naturally has a vibrant golden color in its raw state. Most ingredients naturally have some degree of pigment in them (and some, like retinol, are more pigmented than others). When you look at ingredients as raw materials such as green tea (or any tea extract, actually), grape, ferulic acid, and licorice, you will see that most have a warmish hue. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This color is so vibrant that even small amounts (0.10% and higher) will be visible. In a formula at 1%, like #APassioni, retinol will naturally be a bright gold color (unless you take steps to bleach or alter the color in some way, which #DrunkElephant would never do). #texturetuesday⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Photo @marie.anne.skin

This week's #MondayMixer🐘? (aka our favorite skincare smoothie of the moment): one pump #TLCFramboos, one pump #Protini, & a few drops (to your liking!) of #VirginMarulaOil. This overnight miracle resurfaces skin (including dullness and hyperpigmentation help), gives collagen a boost, and leaves your complexion with a healing glow. 💚⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What's your favorite #DrunkElephant skincare smoothie? Welcome to #socialsunday🐘 (ask questions in the comments, our founder Tiffany Masterson might respond!): Q: You talk about the acid mantle and the importance of pH balance a lot. What is that? ⠀⠀⠀ A: When we say, “pH balanced,” as it applies to our products, we mean that they are formulated to compliment the pH level of skin (which is acidic) or at least not *disturb* it. ⠀⠀⠀ The acid mantle is made up of sebum and sweat, sits right under the microbiome, which together are critical for skin to be healthy. Think of that as a built-in “toner” that holds the appropriate pH level on the surface of your skin and acts as skin’s first line of defense. It does a great job if you let it. This is the reason you’ll hear me say I don’t think toner is necessary. I also recommend skipping the morning cleanse as I believe that it’s just another way to help support the acid mantle. Over-cleansing can strip skin, which is a bad thing. ⠀⠀⠀ The pH range is a scale of 0 to 14 that measures the balance between acidity and alkalinity of a substance. Anything below a pH of 7.0 is considered acidic, anything above 8.0 is alkaline. Skin is naturally acidic, with a pH of around 5.5, which is critical to maintaining the health, or stability, of your skin barrier (AKA the acid mantle). The acid mantle is responsible for keeping substances out (pollution, dirt, bacteria), and it’s maintained by an acidic balance of lipids and other substances that keep it pliable and smooth—so it is vital that you maintain its health, because it is literally keeping you healthy! ⠀⠀⠀ You only want to use skincare products that have an acidic pH and ideally as close as possible to the neighborhood of your skin’s pH level, which makes them more compatible with your skin. If you use products that are very alkaline (a pH level of 9.0+, for example), you can throw off the pH balance of skin, which can result in inflammation, redness and breakouts. If you use products that are too acidic (under 3.0, for example) you can also create * con’t in the comments! ⠀⠀⠀ Photo: @lapetitechicmommy
"A no makeup selfie is not something I would have been confident posting a month ago. The first picture I took sitting on the couch this morning after my #DrunkElephant morning routine, #sansmakeup and #sansfilter. Dark under eye circles and fine lines are noticeable diminished, forehand lines have diminish and overall texture and tone are so much better. My routine is as follows:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Morning, I cleanse with only water, then I go in with 2 pumps each of the #CFirma and #VirginMarulaOil. Next I use a dab of both the #CTango and #ShabaComplex eye serums, lastly I follow up with the #Protini with one pump of the #BHydra. Did ya want more glow? I also add 2 pumps of the #DBronzi sunshine drops. At night I cleanse my face with the #BesteNo9, jelly cleanser then follow with 2 pumps each of the Virgin Marula Oil, and #TLCFramboos. I then follow with the #CTango and #ShabaComplex for the eyes. I top it all off with #LalaRetro! 3 times a week at night I use the #APassioni Retinol Cream. Thank you @drunkelephant for making my skin something I’m now in love with!" - @ambersbeautyspot⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Want to be our next #barewithus🐘 beauty? "Go! Go on right now and buy this stuff. I promise it is worth it. This stuff is a game changer. I received a sample of this and after using it for one night, I knew I wanted to purchase it. I was definitely hesitant because let's be honest, $90 is steep. I promise you, it is worth it. I use this as my go-to night serum and I have seen a drastic change in the texture of my skin. My pores are definitely smaller, my skin is smoother and honestly, I really have cut down on how much makeup I use daily because my skin has really changed for the better. It has lasted me almost a year and I haven't run out yet. Not to mention, #DrunkElephant has incredible products. When my friends ask about my skincare routine, I always suggest this stuff first!
