"How is marriage now", you ask? After the cake has been eaten, the rose petals swept up, the vendors payed, and the "thank you" letters written? After the home settling, the job searching, the "future" talking, and the general life-merging has begun to set in? I'll tell you. Every day, he opens the car door for me. He extends his arm to me when we are out. He has my back. He is the definition of gentleman. Loyal. Patient. Funny. Wise. Grateful. We make efforts. This union is healthy. Effort falls where effort should fall and the rest feels so... dare I say.. easily found. We choose each other daily because we know what we have in each other. We know this love is a gift. We choose to be open and honest, we settle our disagreements quickly, we try to always listen to each other, and we find ways to physically be in each other's space. We both like to be right and we aren't afraid of apologies. We give the unknown to God and have regular conversations about things that concern us, excite us, intrigue us, crack us up. We are ultra aware of and quick to verbalize how fortunate we are to have each other because we know what a catch the other is. Now, the past has gone. Shaped us BUT we are new. We are whole. We are forgiven. We are full. We are free. We are one. We are wiser children bound through a redeeming gospel. Through HIm, all things are possible. Through HIm, all is right and lovely and good. Because of Jesus, we are "better together".
