It all starts with the base, the shoulder blade itself. Get that fixed up and you’ll be surprised how much better everything feels. . 🙋🏽‍♂️Proximal positioning dictates distal movement. This is true for the hips, low back, etc. and the shoulder as well. Shoulder stability and proper mechanics begin with proper scapulothoracic mechanics. Every gym goer should regularly practice movements where your shoulder blade moves about the rib cage. . 🙅🏽‍♂️The shoulder blade and arm has one small bony connection to the rest of your body and that is through the collar bone, the AC joint. Otherwise, the arms primary proximal stabilization system is comprised of 17 muscles that attach to the scapula. . 👯‍♂️Scapulo-thoracic = shoulder blade on rib cage movement. Some consider this to be a joint in and of itself, although there are no bony articulations. The mechanics of this joint are extremely important. This was one of the drills we used today at Prehab 101 London to work on motor control and reducing low back stress in the deadlift. . Getting the lats engaged before and during the pull can be a game changer for stability and force production, and it's a piece I see a lot of people struggle with, often because they just don't know what to do or what it's supposed to feel like. 😶 . Some cues I'll often use are "take the slack out of the bar", "pretension the bar", or "𝗽𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗽𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁" to help you envision that motion. But if you need a drill to help you get the feel for this, try this band setup. . ⬅️ By pulling backwards against the band, you will feel the lats engage immediately. It's the same motion as a straight arm lat pulldown, a common lat training exercise. You can then keep them engaged through some light deadlift reps or even pause deadlifts for extra control work. . Tag a friend who needs to get their lats fired up and share the wealth! . #Prehab101

Repost @fitspau by @media.repost: Pudding façon chocolat liégeois 🥣 Un petit dej trompe l’œil et complet pour bien finir la semaine! 😋 Voici la recette : Pour le pudding au chocolat : 20g de graines de chia, 50g de yaourt (ici au soja), 80ml de lait végétal, 1cac de lucuma nu3, 1cac de peanut butter, 1 cac de chocolat cru -> Mélangez tous les ingrédients dans un bol et laissez reposer au frigo au minimum 1h. Mélangez à nouveau en le sortant. Dans un autre bol mélangez 50g de yaourt, 1cac d’enveloppes de psyllium nu3 (très riches en fibres!) et quelques gouttes de FitDrops nu3 à la vanille. Ajoutez par dessus et laissez encore un peu reposer avant de déguster 😋 Bon appétit !!!
