Hello Monday! I read something recently that made a lot of sense and helped me. If you’re feeling off on a Monday (or any day for that matter), you might be picking up on the feelings/energy of everyone else around. That sadness/anxiety/stress etc might not even belong to you! This is also a lovely reminder that feelings are just feelings, they can pass if you let them (and don’t try force them away because that has the opposite effect), and underneath it all is our home of peace and harmony. What helps us find our way home? Well, yoga for one... Here’s this week’s schedule; come soak in the high vibes 👉🏻 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ SOUL STRETCH Brixton (Book your free class at www.soulstretch.co) 🧘♀️🔮Mon 7-8.30pm (Vinyasa with Sound Journey) 🧘♀️Tues 7-8pm (Vinyasa, Brockwell Park🌲) 🧘♀️Weds 7.30-8.30pm (Vinyasa) 🧘♀️Thurs 7-8.15pm (Vinyasa Level 1/2) 🧘♀️Fri 7-8am (Rise & Shine Vinyasa) 🧘♀️Sat 8.45-9.45am (Vinyasa) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ PUBLIC CLASSES: 🧘♀️Tues 12.30-1.30, Equinox HSKen (Vinyasa) 🧘♀️Weds 8-9am, Yoga Centric Crouch End (Hot Vinyasa Level 1/2) 🧘♀️Fri 5:30-6.30pm, Equinox St James (Vinyasa)
As a beginner, I used to come up onto my heels and walk my feet towards my hands in this pose (Wheel). Why? Looked more impressive. Instagram said it was cool. What does coming onto your heels and walking them back towards your hands do? As the ego maybe inflates with each backward footstep, the lower back suffers and squashes. What are we trying to do in this pose? Lengthen the spine. Find more space, not less. If you do what I used to, try sending your chest through the arms, push into the feet, hug your inner thighs in and work to straighten your legs. Length. Space. Ahhh. ☺️

‘I AM ENOUGH.’ A simple mantra for Monday to remind you that you are just that. Something I constantly have to remind myself of. I’m trying for ‘less is more’ vibes this month to focus on my very fast-approaching wedding, and when I cut back on work stuff I know I get into this pattern of worrying I’m not doing my best or doing enough for my students... Truth is though, keeping yourself full and happy and putting space in the diary to reset and do less, makes us happier and clearer in ourselves, and then better for everyone else around us too. Win win. Yogi schedule for the week 👉🏻 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ SOUL STRETCH Brixton (Book a free class at www.soulstretch.co) 🧘♀️🔮Mon 7-8.30pm (Vinyasa with Sound Journey) 🧘♀️Tues 7-8pm (Vinyasa, Brockwell Park!) 🧘♀️Weds 7.30-8.30pm (Vinyasa) 🧘♀️Thurs 7-8.15pm (Vinyasa Level 1/2) 🧘♀️Fri 7-8am (Rise & Shine Vinyasa) 🧘♀️Sat 8.45-9.45am (Vinyasa) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ PUBLIC CLASSES: 🧘♀️Tues 12.30-1.30, Equinox HSKen (Vinyasa) 🧘♀️Weds 8-9am, Yoga Centric Crouch End (Hot Vinyasa Level 1/2) 🧘♀️Fri 5:30-6.30pm, Equinox St James (Vinyasa) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ SPECIAL EVENTS: 🧘♀️Fri 1.30-2.30pm, @google event Vinyasa and Sound Journey

When it comes to finding your life purpose, follow your *excitement*... It’s the path to your destiny 💜 If it feels a bit terrifying as well, it’s probably what you need to be doing and sharing here on Earth! What’s it for me? (Aside from the yoga of course...) Music. Always has been, and I’ve always known it deep down... I’ve sang on and off for years, with my best mates Fear and I’m-Not-Good-Enough always right there by my side, mostly holding me back (they’re not the best of friends I have to say), but there comes a point where you have to choose which path you want to take and share what you got with the world! Tomorrow won’t wait forever, and no one else decides for you. What excites you (apart from Prosecco in the sunshine on a Friday evening)? Here’s where I’ll be singing soon... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🌟Yin Yoga and Sound Journey next Sat 13th @3tribesldn Crouch End 5-7pm (link to book in bio) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🌟 SUPER excited to be bringing the sound vibes to @triyoga Shoreditch on Weds 24th July and 28th August 7.15-8.45pm🎵💖
Feelings are transient. Like everything else... Everything is always in a state of change. Feeling EXCITED! will pass. Feeling down, will also pass. The one thing we can rely on to always bring us some peace and calm, bring us back to our natural state of being, underneath all of those ever-changing ups and downs and thoughts and feelings, is our breath. Awareness of our breath helps everything else to melt away, as we arrive in a state a presence. This is where peace lives.
Did you know that every single one of us has the potential to be happy? According to the @bodyworldsldn exhibition (went there at the weekend - awesome), our happiness stats are 50% to do genes, 40% to do with our own thoughts and feelings, and only 10% down to external things like finances/job situation etc! There we all are looking for happiness everywhere BUT the place it actually is - inside! Hey we can’t choose our family but good news is we can choose our thoughts... So if the blues hit, think some happy thoughts and increase your happy vibes by 40% baby 👊🏻 WE GOT THE POWER! (Though I also really think at least 5% should also be given to any coconut ice coffee...) Yogi schedule this week for the happy vibes, including BROCKWELL PARK YOGA Tuesday at 7pm woop! 👉🏻 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ SOUL STRETCH Brixton (Book your free class at www.soulstretch.co) 🧘♀️🔮Mon 7-8.30pm (Vinyasa with Sound Journey) 🧘♀️Tues 7-8pm (Vinyasa, Brockwell Park!) 🧘♀️Weds 7.30-8.30pm (Vinyasa) 🧘♀️Thurs 7-8.15pm (Vinyasa Level 1/2) 🧘♀️Fri 7-8am (Rise & Shine Vinyasa) 🧘♀️Sat 8.45-9.45am (Vinyasa) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ PUBLIC CLASSES: 🧘♀️Tues 12.30-1.30, Equinox HSKen (Vinyasa) 🧘♀️Fri 5:30-6.30pm, Equinox St James (Vinyasa) 🧘♀️Sat 11-12.15, Blue Cow Yoga, Moorgate (Vinyasa) SPECIAL EVENT: 🧘♀️🔮Weds 9-10.30am, Yoga and Sound Journey for Wellness Wednesdays @annabelsmayfair
We’re working on core strength and stability this week in classes. Core strength is the foundation of so much of our asana practice, helping us to move and hold poses with more control and balance. But what about our energetic core? Sometimes life gets overwhelming with so much going on around us, that we become nervous/anxious/stressed, and that often manifests as a sick feeling in the stomach. We lose our sense of centre on the inside as we’re pulled in so many different directions on the outside. Having an awareness and engagement of the core in our yoga practice will not only help build strength physically, but will also serve to remind us that there is an internal source of strength and stability that we can draw upon, in our centre, when things get a little tough on the outside.

We LOVE these two, and it’s always pure magic when they come to teach at the Soul Stretch studio! Henry and Mark @morganruckyoga joint teach a beautiful Relax and Restore class made up of a few lovely restorative poses with props, followed by a deep and unique Yoga Nidra meditation designed to relax, restore and reset. What makes these classes so special is the amount of care, thought and compassion Henry and Mark put into each and every second, and to every student. We have just 2 spaces left for their next class, which is next SUNDAY 30TH JUNE, 7-8.15pm st Soul Stretch Brixton. To book for £10, email email@example.com. THE perfect way to end your weekend 🌟🙏🏻
I did not like my first yoga class! In my mind at the time, it was slow and boring and dull... So I decided yoga wasn’t for me. Luckily, some months later, my friend Marcus @goodlordveda had recently qualified as a yoga teacher so I went along to support one of his first classes... And had a totally different experience! I found myself connecting with my body and moving in ways I never had before, paying attention to my breath, flowing through a beautiful dynamic sequence and loving every minute. This was something I could get on board with! At the time, I was going through a painful breakup from a long-term relationship, and yoga was there. Yoga went from being the perfect rebound to the new love of my life. Over the months my focus shifted from wanting to do all the ‘hard’ poses, to finding more joy in discovering I had my own inner resource of peace (you mean it’s been there the whole time?!), which came from the mindfulness aspect of the practice. My perspective of yoga shifted from a physical fitness class based on a mat where I had to be able to do a headstand to be ‘good at it’, to an ongoing practice of balance and self-awareness that stretched beyond the mat’s four edges. What is yoga for me now? Not a class, but a journey; of learning, of healing, of commitment to growth, of surrendering control, of learning how to trust and go with the flow, of meeting my true self underneath all of her layers and role-playing, of accepting that self fully, of regularly saying yes to invitations to brave my edge and dive a little deeper still... The practice never stops. Where are you at on your yoga journey? Happy Yoga Day 😊🙏🏻
We were lucky enough to be invited to a small private gig last night where legendary kirtan singer @krishnadasmusic shared his magic with us from stage, and new brand on the scene @omnom put on an incredible veggie spread to follow! This photo is us officially falling in love with the magic of kirtan last August @udayayoga festival Bulgaria.. So excited to go back again this August 😊 Kirtan is call and response song that unites everyone as one... Ego dissolves. Music is medicine for the soul 💜
Our lovely Soul Teacher, Claudia @supernovacla, started as a student of Soul Stretch some years ago, and is now building herself as a Vinyasa Flow yoga teacher alongside her full-time job. She says, ‘It’s been such an honour to teach in the same place where I fell in love with yoga. My fellow students have been so supportive it has made my first steps into teaching so much easier and fun!” We’re all about community and support at Soul Stretch. We chat, we hug, we don’t judge or compete... We’re basically just a really nice bunch of yogis 😊💜 Claudia teaches at Soul Stretch Brixton on Wednesday evenings 7.30-8.30pm, and on the last Wednesday of every month it’s ‘Wind Down Wednesday’ - Vinyasa Flow with the added magic of Yoga Nidra! These classes are for members only but if you’re keen to join a new yoga family, do book a free class via the link in bio 👆🏻 We hope to meet you soon!
