Yet, it is turning into being pro-surgery or anti-surgery. So, yeah, this polarizing stuff needs to stop🚫. ⁣ ⁣ 👉🏻However, here is the problem:⁣ ⁣ Most of the time I see someone advocating for surgery, the threads and accounts are full of the normal misinformation we see about #diastasisrecti.⁣ ⁣ ⚠️So how can any woman make a legit decision on surgery when she doesn’t have a full picture of what her diastasis actually means❓❓❓⁣ ⁣ You cannot assume that the one physical therapist you saw knows everything, and you can’t assume your surgeon will give you the big picture either. You need a team and some time to figure it out. ⁣ ⁣ Body image complexities are intermingled into it all. Women are embarrassed, angry, & shocked, so they turn to all the fear mongering. I did that too for a while, and went through that phase of the process, so I totally get it. It is traumatizing to feel like you lacked all this info about your body for so long, along with not really liking the way you look. It isn’t easy. ⁣ ⁣ 📣But we can’t talk about surgery in a positive light unless we also talk about diastasis in one.🙏🏻💡⁣ ⁣ The reason women need surgery isn’t because they did crunches or missed the “window” of healing during the first year.  Sure, there are things you can do to help your rehab. I help women with that all the time. However, there are also factors that we cannot control due to genetics, and a lot of “rules” about diastasis that are not actually true. There should be a progression of movements with strategy, not avoidance. And, it is never too late for your body. ⁣ ⁣ I hope more women can claw their way out of the cycle of misinformation and fear mongering on the internet and get real education and support. That doesn’t mean your journey will be easy, but it will be true. ⁣ ⁣ 👊🏻Each woman needs to write her own story for her own diastasis, and not let it get written for her.👊🏻📝

Dagens træning var flyvende og i fantastisk selskab af @trinethymogensen og Clara👶🏼 der er soundtracket med fine hikkerier🤣. Det var simpelthen guld værd med en barnepige✨💕 der gjorde, at jeg kunne få trænet en masse af alt det jeg savner rigtig meget fordi jeg er så sjældent i et center disse dage😳. Køreturen til @norceperformance var for lang idag, men første del af workout’en blev stadig en del af programmet for dagens WOD i Norce💪🏻 (se den på min story👌🏻). Efterfølgende blev jeg simpelthen lige nødt til at tjekke formen på butterfly pull-ups🦋 - heldigvis ikke helt glemt, men bestemt plads til forbedringer😎✌🏻. Kroppen skal lige lære at bruge mit opspænd igen😉. Jeg håber snart jeg ka’ komme tilbage på dine lørdags gymnastics hold @thor__bl . Og så var det fucking nice at føle mig flyvende i box jumps - det er altså tydeligt at mærke, at de første 10kg er røget🤪👌🏻. Grundet en noget bedre nattesøvn i nat, var der også meget mere energi i kroppen! Jeg elsker hvordan træning føles som en leg🤸🏼‍♂️ og hvordan det giver mig så meget mere energi og overskud i min hverdag🤩. Det er fantastisk at kunne have min datter lige ved min side👶🏼, men samtidig have hænderne fri til at kunne gøre noget af det jeg elsker❤️. Can I tell you a secret? ⠀ ⠀ As a trainer, I used to have no idea what to do with a pregnant or postpartum client so I'd just train them like everyone else. 😬⠀ ⠀ Looking back on this today I have some mixed feelings. I'm a bit embarrassed yes, but honestly I just didn't know any better. Standard training for group fitness and personal trainers includes basically nothing about the needs of a pregnant or postpartum client. ⠀ ⠀ And hey, I get it. How can one standard certification cover the needs for several different special populations AND cover everything else a trainer should know? ⠀ ⠀ But here's the deal, if you want to continue to exercise throughout your pregnancy you need to be connected with someone who knows their shit. 🤷🏼‍♀️ ⠀ This chapter is absolutely temporary, but the implications to how your body feels and functions long-term are serious. Being able to lift throughout your pregnancy is cool, I want that for you, but I want you doing it in an intentional way that sets you up for a safe return to exercise in postpartum. I don't want you injured, hurting, or left wondering "Why didn't I know better?" ⠀ ⠀ @brianna.battles and I? We know our shit. ⠀ ⠀ We can't guarantee that our program is going to prevent you from having issues in postpartum. Some of that is genetics and factors outside of ours and your control (welcome to motherhood). However, we are controlling what we can in pregnancy and that is exercise selection. ⠀ ⠀ We were so intentional with each of the workouts in each of the phases to match what a pregnant woman's body would (likely) need at that stage.⠀ ⠀ I'm damn proud of this program and I so wish it would have been available to me during my pregnancies. Exercise is a part of my identity. I didn't want to lose that in pregnancy, chances are you don't either.
