My starfish has completed her first swimming lessons 🐠 ⠀⠀ It was a great reminder for her to not fear water. ⠀⠀ It was a great lesson for me to get outta my comfort zone! I was cool, calm and collected on the outside but freaking out on the inside my first few classes. Especially when you have to dunk them head below water. ⠀⠀ I’d ask myself am I making the right choice? Will I drown my child? Will this affect her long term? ⠀⠀ The questions of fear running though my mind. ⠀⠀ But of course I was making the right decision, Nevaeh and me will both gain confidence through this experience. I was able to suck it up and just keep swimming. ⠀⠀ Have you put your doubts and fears aside and gained confidence through an experience?

One thing is certain: I am going to be SORE tomorrow! Due to a scheduling mix-up because of my two cancelled sessions this week, I ended up doing a complete workout WITH Ro instead of the usual personal training session, which meant I got to do every crazy exercise he and another trainer friend of his were doing, but with less weight! It started out simple enough, with some familiar circuits of weighted lunges and bicep curls. But then we got to the circuits of hang power cleans (new), step-ups (also new), pushups, calf raises, leg curls, tricep extensions, lat pull downs, and I’m not even sure what those crazy hamstring exercises were called (very new, where you fall face-first toward the floor from kneeling with someone holding your ankles, and you catch yourself with your hands right before you face-plant and push up just enough for your hamstrings to lift you back upright)! Finished up the workout with some assisted pull-ups and a little half mile jog! I am TIRED now, but will I be able to even walk tomorrow? We make Fire Suppression Equipment • ➡️When/Why did you start CrossFit?: I started CrossFit literally on my 40th Birthday. I’m 42 right now. I was near or hovering around that dreaded 300 bills range for weight. My wife kept saying why don’t you try this CrossFit thing-it fits your competitive drive. I was scared to take the leap and kept thinking that I couldn’t do CrossFit because of my weight. Then on my birthday, I called a friend of mine that had been doing CrossFit for awhile (I had noticed a big change in him) and told him that I’d see him in the morning to give this CrossFit a try. Since the first day, I jumped right in and Haney stopped since. As they say-I drank the Kool-Aid! • ➡️Best thing about CrossFit?: I would say CrossFit has given me more confidence! As well as that competitive drive back that I was lacking. I love the community of people - not just in one box, all CrossFit boxes are the same. The people are inviting and that’s what I tell people. We as a community really don’t judge. We are all going through the same workout at the same time. Yes, we all have different levels of fitness and it can be set to your own ability. As you keep putting the work in, your abilities keep growing. CrossFit is a way to measure your fitness and goals. When I first started going to the CrossFit gym, I couldn’t even do a sit up and I had to do step up on a 20” box. Now I pretty much RX every workout. I even compete in CrossFit competitions. CrossFit can be done by anyone at any fitness level. I’m healthier now than probably anytime in my life!! • ➡️Hobbies?: Auto Racing, sports the big three.. spending time with family in our pool. • ➡️Words of wisdom for someone considering CrossFit?: Crossfit is great for people that aren’t really comfortable going to a gym and aren’t sure how to use equipment or what they should be doing. CrossFit....you show up and the programming is set.
