Also known as the wealthy group.They are the ones tuning in on special occasions or attracted by either a new content or guest in the studio.Furthermore, being the wealth of the station means they tilt the audience percentage hence improving the ratings.This in turn, entice the advertisers. ~ To keep the station running we all need core audience.To monetize the radio/TV programming,we need a magnetic content that attracts fringe listeners consistently. ~ The key point is learn how to convert the fringe into core audience through radio/TV content.Both groups have no defined demographic. They could come from any demographic. ~ Next you meet a radio/TV programme's manager or controller, understand that their number one target/priority is to convert fringe into core audience. ~ Some of the tools used to achieve this is by creating a radio/TV DNA.If you are a radio/TV executive find what sets your entity apart from the competition.In addition,the very foundation is the station DNA.Nevertheless, the station DNA is more less like the DNA in humans.It is the micro ID of the station. ~ Today as the executive ask the programming head if they have a DNA. A sales process that actually works, combined with some tactics at how to prospect more effectively and how to do a better job of selecting prospects goes a long way. The biggest challenges facing radio sales reps today is new ideas on how to earn more appointments, given that is one of the most crucial steps in the sales cycle. In addition, they are more into selling than solving.If you ever sit on the other side of the desk and let a radio sales rep come in and present to you, chances are they will talk about themselves, their station and their products which may also include digital offerings,if at all they have been bitten by the digital bug. The presentation is saturated with a lot of pitching, and some more experienced reps will disguise the pitch by asking some questions about the business, but they quickly make it about the station and not about the client.Most clients see right through that. The client cares about his/her business and how he/she can meet his/her goals and objectives, and unless the radio sales rep is helping the process, the client will tune out. Therefore, the sales reps need to slow down during the discovery phase, and ensure they uncover needs and get an assignment. But all too often, because the sales rep has budgets and is required to close business, they rush the process.They may end up getting some business that has little or no chance of ever renewing,or even worse,they leave a lot of money on the table.
