Books, websites, extended family may have the best of intentions and outside perspectives at times can be helpful but know if any of what you’re hearing outside of you, if that doesn’t feel good in your body, it’s okay to pass on the advice. . If you want to hold your baby for hours on end, or sleep with them at night and that fills you up and gives you life then yes do that. . If you want to nurse them when you feel called to nurse them do so, regardless if you just did a short while ago. . One day from the next if your “routine” looks different it’s okay, each day you are changing and different and so is your dear sweet baby and forever thriving amidst your loving energy and embrace. . You are forever evolving, growing and trusting in your own deeper inner wisdom and the guidance from That Which You Cannot See (Source) but know deeply is guiding your way forward. . Trust yourself, trust your baby, trust in the unfolding of this beautiful time as in the moment may at times feel long but in the big picture is ever so brief. . Booty booty booottyyyy (youll want to SAVE this) . . I recently bought this resistance band from @freespiritoutlet and tried it out for my leg workout. . . HOLY buns of fire!! It literally hurts to sit today. Which just tells me my glutes have not been activating to their fullest potential while doing functional movements. . . What does adding the band do? . . Lets start with the motion of what the butt muscle is intended for. There are actually 3 glute muscles, the min, the med, and the max. . . Motions involved are extension of the hip, lateral rotation of the hip, and specific areas of the glute max help to adduct the hip. . . The glute medius helps with simple tasks such as aiding in stability for walking, running, and single leg weight bearing. . . So adding a band increases the tension on the muscles therefore increasing the amount of isometric work (a contraction of a muscle that doesnt move) of the muscles. . . The bands also help activate many smaller ancillary muscles for strength and stabilization during compound booty exercise movements . . Adding them into your routine can increase the intensity of your workouts, and help you achieve the best outcome from the work your putting in the gym. . . In order for our bodies to utilize our backsides, we have to make sure that our front sides are completely accessible. This means that we must have flexible hip muscles. . . If the hip flexors are tight and pulling your pelvis forward, we have lost all use of the glutes. This can lead to lost power and efficiency, and most importantly lead to injury and overuse . . SAVE THIS  and tag me if you do it! . . 🍑Squats with booty band 6 x 8 reps . 🍑 Stiff leg deads with band 4 x 12 . 🍑Hip thrusts with band ss with split squat jumps x 10 each leg . 🍑Leg press x 3 x 15 🍑Ss calf presses 4 x 15 🍑Finished with tabata 30 seconds for 10mns on eliptiacal. Over the years I would workout and go to classes where the instructor would always say “engage your core” and I would think to myself what the hell are they talking about? After multiple certifications and hours of studying and learning from those wiser than me, I can try to help you to understand what it means to engage your core! ————- First you need to understand the theee layers that make up your stomach muscles: The top layer is your ‘rectus abdominus’ or as most referred to as your ‘six pack’. These muscles don’t do much for your body other than look good 😉 You then have your side oblique muscles, which assist you to twist and rotate. Finally the third and what most consider the most important layer is your ‘transverses abdominus’. These muscles wrap around you like a corset to not only give your spine and pelvis its strength and support but also give you the shape of your tummy. ———- When we talk about engaging your core we are talking about you Tranverses Abdominus. In this video you see me taking out the space between my back and the floor. I do so by closing my rib cage to my belly button and pressing through my pelvic floor to flatten out my back on the exhale. Slowly release by inhaling and continue to repeat the exercise. You can then bring your legs to table top and continue to engage. *Its extremely important to correlate your breathing with the engagement* ———- This is important to do on its own and before any core focused excercises. For example completing this before doing a leg lift will keep your core engaged and not allow you to put pressure on your lower back. ———- I would love to do more core work with progression?
