💥 Want a challenge? Want to find out how to make light weight feel like your one rep max? Try eccentric training 😉👇🏽 🔹 First, what is it? Eccentric or negative training is slowing down to increase the time your body is under tension during the lowering or stretching phase of an exercise. 🔹 Increasing your time under tension during the eccentric phase is a sure fire way to QUICKLY overload your muscles. Don't believe me? Take a weight you normally could squat 10x and now use the same weight with a 5 second eccentric lowering portion. If you can still do 10 I'll buy you a protein powder 🤪 🔹 Eccentric training is a GREAT way to throw your muscles another challenge. It's also a great way to use lighter weights that will still wreck your bod. For example, if you are at a hotel gym and they only have a small section of light weights - do eccentrics. You'll get just as good as a workout 😉 🔹 I love eccentric training for another reason 👉🏽 it MAKES you focus. Controlling the weight and going slowly demands your full attention and helps you focus on both form and the mind to muscle connection 👍🏽...you can't cheat these reps! - Of course training for explosiveness (concentric training) is something that a lot of coaches and trainers focus on, and deservedly so! But training in slower tempos also builds muscle, will/mental strength and physical strength and control just as much. Do them both 😉 👍🏽💪🏽 - Tag a friend who needs to slow down 😜 * * * * * * *
