Food is honestly something I would consider a huuuge part self care... your diet has a massive impact on how you feel and how your body functions so fuel it with the good stuff 🥰 Does that mean always sticking to healthy whole foods? Not necessarily! You can reach for the cake when you want to and still feel amazing as long as you’re being mindful and intentional about your choices. Here’s a little what I eat in a day: #charlottteeats 🍓 Breakfast: homemade granola with strawberries and coconut milk 🥒 Lunch: brown rice bowl with sticky miso tofu, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, and cucumber 🍩 Snack: a biiiig serving of peanut butter on toast 🍋 Dinner: Buddha bowl with hasselback potatoes, cucumber, carrots, spinach, smoked tofu and a squeeze of lemon

📍HOW TO STAY ON TRACK THIS WEEKEND📍 🔥SWIPE RIGHT FOR MORE ▶️ ⠀ First off, let me just say - I’ll realize both of these options are splurges - and that’s on purpose. ⠀ You see, you need to have a big, greasy gourmet burger once in awhile - if that’s what you love (I do!). ⠀ Medium rare, with some bacon and cheese, possibly some barbecue sauce - yes, please. ⠀ Both options start with that delectable burger. ⠀ But what happens the rest of the night is important. ⠀ If you’re trying to lose weight or body fat, picking your splurges wisely is important - and you don’t have to suffer. ⠀ So, option #1 just goes completely off the deep end and drinks IPAs the rest of the night, and then finishes it off with a Wendy’s Frosty and Fries at midnight. ⠀ If you dip your fries in your Frosty…well that’s just plain weird. Haha! Why do people do that? ⠀ Option #1 might be the person that has a burger, and tells them “Screw it, I ruined the night. Might as well eat and drink whatever I want the rest of the night.” ⠀ No. Just get right back on board, dude! ⠀ Option #2 is the balanced dieter who knows how to splurge, but also how to make smart sacrifices. This person enjoys her burger. Every last bite. ⠀ Afterwards, she still enjoys some alcohol - but chooses a light beer - Corona Premier. She just saved 120 calories PER BEER. That’s huge! ⠀ She also comes home after the bar instead of hitting up the Wendy’s drive thru. She eats ice cream (just like option #1), but goes for delicious Halo Top. ⠀ And she saved about 1300 calories on the night. That’s an entire days worth of calories for some of you. ⠀ So let me ask you…are you option #1 or option #2? 🙄Tell me if this cycle sounds familiar…⠀ ⠀⠀ You’ll reach a point where you’re sick and tired of being overweight and eating like shit, so you decide to make a drastic change.⠀ ⠀⠀ You’ll go from eating huge portions of high-calorie foods and virtually zero fruits & veggies to hardly eating any calories and eliminating everything you consider “bad.”⠀ ⠀⠀ 🤷‍♀ It works...till it doesn't.⠀ ⠀⠀ Usually 2-6 weeks after starting, you give up and return to what you were doing before.⠀ ⠀⠀ Most people does this — they make dieting way harder and way more unenjoyable than it needs to be.⠀ ⠀⠀ And it all comes down to your mindset starting out.⠀ ⠀⠀ See, most people are only concerned with how much weight they can lose…⠀ ⠀⠀ They don’t care what they have to do in the short-term — if they can get the 10, 20, or 30+ pounds they want to lose off as quickly as possible, they’ll try anything.⠀ ⠀⠀ 🤔 But therein lies the problem…⠀ ⠀⠀ People care about losing weight, and not enough about keeping it off. They care about getting lean, but they don’t think about what it’ll take to stay lean for life.⠀ ⠀⠀ Here’s the truth —> there’s nothing wrong with wanting to lose weight, build muscle, look sexy, etc.⠀ ⠀⠀ Just remember…Regardless of how long it takes you to get there, you’re going to be spending a much larger portion of your life maintaining your results. ⠀⠀ (At least, I would hope that’s what you want! )⠀ ⠀⠀ And when it comes to maintaining your success, it all comes down to HOW you go about getting there in the first place.⠀ ⠀⠀ 🙌 My advice? Thereafter and below however, most of the ingredients resemble an ice cream sundae and are marginally classed as a coffee related drink. Therefore if one regularly goes out for a ‘coffee’, but consumes a Frappuccino, they are easily tidally going out for dessert. - - Regardless of terminology, it’s useful it be aware of liquid calories consumed. For example, based on grande & 2% milk servings; 3 caffe vanilla Frappuccino’s per week means consumption of 1260 calories and 213g of sugar. 7-10 latte’s per week equates to 1330-1900 calories. Yet, rather poignantly, 25 Americano’s per week equates to 0 calories. - - Coffee is loved universally (and rightfully so), but if fat loss is the goal and little progress is being made, consuming three quarters of a days worth of calories each week from ‘coffeeish drink’ may not be best practice. However, any drink in this graphic can fit into any diet with as much regularity as one pleases, as long as it supports overall energy balance for said goal. - - One may also be best placed to approach Starbucks culinary items with awareness for the energy that they too entail. #Repost @kimschlagfitness Fabulous answer to a question I get a lot: “I’m eating the right amount of calories, but I’m not losing weight, why?” @Regrann from @chadhargrove1 - Ever create a calorie deficit with one of those calculators and it didn’t work? - Today I’ll explain why it didn’t work. - Before I get into, a coupe things to note: - 1. The 1600 number used is an example. I have many clients that come to having noted trying to lose fat on 1000-1200 calories daily — sometimes even less — this 1600 number is used because it’s close to where I often have those clients track once they start. 2. You don’t have to eat perfectly to create a deficit and lose fat. Don’t take the food choices too literally. I’ll explain what I mean here as I go along. - So here’s kinda how a fat loss plan works. - Use a calculator, set the calories. - Aim to get the calories, right. - Get lean, lose stubborn body fat, see some muscle definition and tone up. - Easy, right? - But it hasn’t happened this way for you has it? - Here’s the main reason why. The only reason it’s exciting information is because it’s very often the truth. - You say you’re eating 1600 calories a day (again, for example), but you’re actually eating 2100 a day (again, example) - You say you’re eating a certain amount, but it’s more. - Whether it’s being a little too off daily, or going off by quite a bit more than you think on the weekends, this is usually it. - Your calorie deficit doesn’t work, because you aren’t actually in a deficit. - And although someone may say “ya but if you have a hormonal imbalance or hypothyroid, a deficit doesn’t work”. - Now, what needs to be understood is a deficit is confirmed by weight loss over time — ignore day to day fluctuations. If no weight loss, there is no deficit. - Certain situations — relativity rare situations — can impact metabolism to a point a deficit is more difficult or would potentially be unhealthy to strive for, if you’re in a deficit you lose weight. - And if you’ve aimed for a deficit before, to lose fat, the answer is almost always you just ate more than you thought. And if you really suspect a medical issue, go to your doctor to confirm.
