TRY THESE 6 BACK-FRIENDLY CORE EXERCISES! - What’s up, Achievers?! @jasonlpak here with a video on back friendly core exercises! It’s important to note if you’re experiencing some back pain, make sure to get it looked at by a PT! The exercises in this video are general recommendations, and a medical professional will be able to individualize their recommendations based on the context of your specific situation. - Having said that, we really like these 6 drills because they help to keep your back in a relatively neutral position. Crunching, twisting, and flexing are all totally fine if you’re pain-free, but you might want to hold off on that sort of movement until your back calms down a bit. Once it does, you can slowly and conservatively add more and more movement and load! Here are the six drills: - 1️⃣Supine marching: 6-8 each side 2️⃣Front plank: 15-30 seconds 3️⃣Bird dog: 6-8 each side 4️⃣Side plank: 15-30 seconds each side 5️⃣Crawling: 15-30 seconds 6️⃣SB dead bug: 4-6 each side - Hope you find this helpful! Real talk time! . . I don't do yoga flows. No, not like, 'Yoga flows arent my thing!' It's like, 'I can't do flows.' 🙄 I can't remember the flows. I can't think of new flows. I can't put together two asanas and figure out how to flow from one to the other. I can't do smooth movements. I forget to breathe. I'm generally a mess when it comes to flows. Even a simple Surya Namaskar that I've been doing for years now, is jerky and very often I forget the steps 😣 Does that bother me? Hell, yes! But do I fret over it? Hell, no! . . So far I've only attended Hatha yoga classes and the only Vinyasa I've ever practised is the good old Surya Namaskar and the very basic one's by Adriene in the 30 days yoga classes. Flows aren't something I've learned and my brain too doesn't grasp them too well right now and hence, it's I suck at them. And it's okay 🤷🏻 I'm not going to lose sleep over it. I'm going to focus on the strength and flexibility that I'm gaining through regular practice of Asanas 🙏❤ . . Day 2 of #WinterTimeCore yoga challenge and today we're working our core and generating some heat by practising Surya Namaskar, the traditional one practised by Hatha Yogis. . . More corework. _ Man there's so much you can do with the stacking I pretty sure I can make an entire workout routine (upper body, lower body, and core) with them and it be 🔥 _ So I know that everyone says you don't get abs by doing ab workouts. My response to that is without abwork you don't gain the strength needed to do other workouts (benchpress, squats, deadlifts, burpees, etc) at a level that will help you maintain an elevated heart rate to burn calories, so it's definitely not an area you should neglect. _ I'm not done yet.
