I was planning to visit the Sheraton Hotel for a short while! It is implemented today! But now there is no Sheraton; Has become Intercontinental !!! Some time the name was Ruposhi Bangla. After watching throughout the day, I am making a proper comment about this hotel: "Luxury at its Best..." #intercontinental #sheraton #ruposhibangla #luxury #fivestarhotel #dhaka #Bangladesh #expensive #amazing #enjoyment #beautiful #goodservice #tastyfood

A long waited first date in 2019 with the doctor @madhobilota85. Even though she had a crazy day at hospital, she draped a beautiful saree paired with a denim jacket. Afternoon was all about laughter and rickshaw rides. We cancelled our preplans and went to Dhaka University instead. Sudden met a little friend and asked him to take out photo under the old banyan tree. Our fun time started with tea at public library, Niloy took me to a short trip to Charukola with fried chicken, then pani-fuchka at TSC, and coffee in Crimson Cup. With coffee, we got surprise gifts from Crimson Cup as they were celebrating their 3rd Birthday. The evening was great with team @kolors_of_kathmandu. you for your time, Beautiful. . . . . . . #beequanimous #behappy #fashion #madeinbangladesh #saree #cotton #sareestory #words #poetry #story #love #life #art #dhaka #bangladesh #throwback #january2019 #fashionblogger #lifestyle #meeting #fashion #sareenotsorry #potd #ootd #ootdfashion #sarees #sareeblouse #sareelove #sareenotsorry #followme #ecofriendly #sustainablefashion

How can you accurately share a place through photos and words when you're only visiting for a short while? One of you brought up the question on my previous post about travel photographers respecting foreign cultures and avoiding Western/orientalist stereotypes. Since most travelers don't have months or years to get to know a place, I thought I'd touch on it in this mini series on responsible travel photography and writing. When I don't know a place very well, I try to stick to sharing personal experiences and observations, rather than pretending to be an expert or making broad generalizations as facts. It's okay to admit you don't know. If you're not comfortable commenting on a place yet, ask others about their experiences. Seek advice or information from locals. Correct yourself if you make an incorrect statement. Not knowing doesn't have to lead to lazy travel cliches like writing about bustling markets or photographing poverty porn. Look hard at what's in front of you, challenge yourself to see beyond the expected. Even though you might not have days to get to know the place, you always have time to push your eye to look beyond stereotypical shots, and seek more unconventional details or perspectives. Photograph locals as fellow humans, not others or objects. Take time to chat with subjects first. Don't drip pity on someone's situation and photograph defeat in their eyes, admire their strength and capture their resilience. With their permission, of course. When taking photos of yourself, poke around the area first. If possible, seek photos where you're IN the environment, not posing in front of it like some alien Vogue model in front of an exotic backdrop. You might as well be planting your country's flag in the scene's soil. Those are a but a handful of my thoughts. What do you do if you're short on time but still want to share your experience in a place?
