🥣CHILLED ZOATS RECIPE🥣 🇺🇸You love porridge but every time you finish it you want more...🙄 I’ve the solution ! This weekend👆🏽 - None of my clothes fit. - None of my friends clothes fit. - I had to use an hours break in the wedding to go and buy a new dress (which turned out to still be too small😂). - I ripped my shorts zip. - Did I cry and subsequently start starving Monday? - Or did I go and revamp my summer wardrobe with clothes that fit? - Because I’m healthy. - It doesn’t matter what my clothes labels say. - Or that I’m 2 ‘sizes’ bigger than my friends. - Because we had the best weekend. - Because I’m so grateful to have such amazing friends. - Because I’m lucky enough to be able to afford new clothes that actually fit. - Get out of your head. Protein schmotein, it seems everyone in the fitness industry goes on about it. Why is that? - Protein is used in muscle protein synthesis, helping you build and maintain muscle, usually a goal of fitness bods. It also helps with exercise recovery and it is also very good at keeping you full for longer after eating. Therefore ensuring adequate intake if you exercise and/or are dieting is essential. - Aside from the gains, your body needs protein as a source of amino acids which are used for numerous other processes in the body involving synthesis of hormones and enzymes; building and maintenance of tissues and organs; immune function; and can even be used as fuel in the absence of other energy sources. Your body can make some amino acids itself, however some must be obtained from the diet - If you are aiming to maximise muscle growth, 1.6-2.2g protein per kg bodyweight is the amount to aim for consuming daily, divided across meals. Around 30g per serving is a good start. You can safely consume more than this, however that would then be at the expense of carbs and fat which are also important parts of your diet - And why eat an extra chicken breast when you could have a Dairy Milk instead? So why do we focus a lot on your protein intake? Well with weight loss in mind a higher protein diet can be very beneficial. Makes you feel fuller and preserves lean muscle mass which is obviously a great benefit. So how much do we need? Well, for those of us tracking consumption, aim for between 1.6g and 2.5g of protein per kg of bodyweight. For those of you who don't wish to track simply aim to get a quality protein content to all your meals (20grams or above) then add in a protein snack and you shouldn't be far off. Don't worry too much about the exact number. Just aim for more protein and avoid the nonsense protein products that actually contain about 7grams.

Are you getting enough zzzzz's? - Sleep is a very important factor in stabilising hunger and hormones - Sleep deprivation affects the brains response to food, increasing the reward value and drive to consume palatable foods when you don’t get enough shut eye. Sleep loss also causes an increase in circulating ghrelin (the “hunger hormone”). These factors increase the likelihood of you over-consuming calories - Whilst the odd bad night isn’t probably going to make that much difference in the long run (although you may well feel more hungry the day after just one poor nights sleep), chronic sleep deprivation may contribute to overconsumption of calories and cause weight management issues - Sleep is also important for recovery from your workouts, mood regulation and good health - Despite its significance, sleep is often overlooked and not seen as a priority in our busy lives. But optimising sleep is one simple step towards controlling calorie consumption and improving health and energy levels, and few small tweaks to your routine can help. You can try to: • Set a bedtime routine and stick to it • Reduce alcohol consumption • Turn off screens (TV/phone/tablets) 1 hour before bed • Eliminate caffeine 6 hours before bedtime • Read or listen to music before bed • Keep your bedroom cool and dark and comfortable - Could you be getting more sleep?
