💥Drop Sets💥 There are many effective ways to do drop sets. When I program drop sets for my clients or myself, I mostly piggyback off @strengthsensei1 ‘s advice. Charles Poliquin wrote an article that explains his favorite way of using drop sets. He likes to tap into as many High Threshold Motor Units as possible by using the heaviest weight possible for a given number of reps, then lowering the weight to increase time under tension on the same muscle group. The videos are long and unexciting for the #gram but I hope the videos can give you a good idea what a drop set looks like if you have never done one before. If you have done drop sets before, I hope that my approach gives you some new ideas! . DROPSET #1️⃣- Narrow Grip Pulldown . Step 1) Complete a 12 RM Step 2)Drop the weight 20-25% Step 3)Complete as many reps as possible Step 4) Drop the weight 20-25% Step 5) Complete as many Reps as possible . * I rest 15-20 seconds between each drop, but you can decrease the rest. * This rep range is great for Hypertrophy and/or fat loss. * using a pulley is very safe for someone who has never done drop sets before. I usually introduce drop sets to my clients using a piece of selectorized equipment or a pulley system. * I typically do this type of drop set towards the end of a workout. Doing it at the beginning is very taxing and has a tendency to decrease performance for every set that follows. * If you have never done drop sets before, one set towards the end of your workout should suffice. A more experienced lifter may need more sets for results. * Sorry for the terrible video quality!

When I was 17 I was at that stage where I’ve been training for about a year, and with the little strength and size I gained I fell into the ego lifter trap of just getting comfortable with what I’m lifting. Then one day I’m training with one of the more experienced guys in the gym and he was spotting my bench, I did my set but then he randomly took half the weight off and told me to keep going, of course I thought it was fucking stupid giving me this baby weight? But the pain and pump it gave me was unforgettable. I learnt that training wasn’t always ridiculous weights, but it was learning how to make the body react and grow. I owe a lot of my progress today to drop sets and forced reps as is still the way today that I shock muscular activation and growth for not only myself but for my clients as well, and I’ve never been more hated 🙃🙃🙃. This is a squat drop set, I hit 5 x 140kg, I then strip the weight and push out some extra reps, as those reps will get the results. #forced #dropset #development #strength #growth #lifting #fitness #instafit #instafitnesss #bodybuilding #stress #pump #burn #squat #iron #advice

#Repost @mblacutt • • • • • • Drop sets are neither better nor worse than traditional sets 😊 - In a study by Ozaki et al., (2017), participants were placed in one of three groups: 3 sets with 80% of 1RM, 3 sets with 30% of 1RM or 1 set with 80% followed by 4 drop sets 🏋🏻‍♂️ - The researchers measured muscle size, strength and endurance 💪 - It was found that all groups gained a similar amount of muscle, with no significant differences between the groups 📈 - The high load (80% 1RM) group got the strongest and the low-load (30% 1RM) group gained the most endurance… this is due to the principle of specificity 🤓 - The advantage of using drop sets is that they take less time and can be fun ⏳ - The disadvantage is that it can be difficult to track and plan progressive overload with drop sets 📕 - Drop sets can have a place in your training program, but they are neither better nor worse than traditional sets. If you’re short on time or need to try new things, give em a try!
