ARABIAN SANDS It’s all about scale, side slopes, slip faces and cresting for days, driving through a small segment of the world’s biggest sand desert. Mubarak bin London to the locals, Sir Wilfred Thesiger to the rest of the world was a photographer, writer and explorer who past through here by foot/camels between 1945-1950. He wrote about his adventure his book Arabian Sands who’s would become a classic piece of travel literature following the life’s of the Bedu people. Traversing from Oman, through the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Rub’ al Khail known as the Empty Quarter. We had the travel power of our jeeps however the risk in this desert is very high. Mechanical failure or bad driving choices could invite disaster. This location is very humbling, empowering and still creates the feeling that it’s being explored for the very first time. Want to visit? Tag a friend who you’d share this drive with.
