You can get a fertility assessment and consultation for free over there for the next 10 days and why wouldn’t you want to know how much time you have and what you can do about it, if you are a girl who wants to have a baby one day:-)🙋🏼‍♀️ In case you haven’t been following my stories, I found out back in March that I have a super low AMH (ovarian reserve - the number of eggs you have left- this is the test that #extendfertility will do for you) My AMH because of genetic reasons is 0.2 and I was told that unless I will freeze my eggs right away, I am not going to have a chance of my own baby. I wish I got the test done earlier, this is why I’m sharing this with you now. Even if I wanted to get pregnant today (which I don’t - the baby daddy qualification process at Casa Miko is very extensive and takes years 😂) I would still need to most likely use IVF to get pregnant because the chances are soooo low... so, I got to work...knowing that it will take me many cycles to get to the number of frozen eggs needed for 70% chance of a baby later (which is about 20 eggs) With a low AMH, you can hope for about 0-5 eggs per cycle. Well, happy to say I have 14 eggs frozen so far! Although my struggle to conceive (about one year) was much shorter in comparison to what others experience, it was nonetheless emotionally grueling and included a third miscarriage, as well as a diagnosis of diminished ovarian reserve, along the way.⁣ The science minded girl in me threw myself into digging deep for evidenced based strategies that have been shown to affect fertility in some way. ⁣ ⁣ Below are 3 important things I believe helped me conceive my third baby: (of course, as a disclaimer, I am not an OBGYN or reproductive endocrinologist so please consult your own medical team before proceeding with my advice!)⁣ ⁣ 1. Get tested for vitamin D deficiency, celiac disease, and underactive thyroid. These are easily identified conditions with known, effective treatments. These are often underlying fertility issues.⁣ ⁣ 2. Take 600 mg ubiquinol/day. Ubiquinol is a widely used supplement, as it has been shown to improve mitochondrial function and, in the context of fertility, egg quality. Splurge on cost if possible and use ubiquinol, not CoQ10, as the latter is the oxidized version of the supplement which the body needs to convert to ubiquinol. Facilitate the process for your body and take ubiquinol. As we get older, and also in the context of certain health conditions, it is a struggle for the body to convert CoQ10 to ubiquinol. I tried to minimize exposure to phthalates by avoiding nail polish, perfume, and switching to phthalate free skin care, hair care, and laundry and cleaning products. These chemicals can compromise hormones that are critical for fertility. Pic (swipe) shows the lotion I used that seemed to be a safER alternative. ⁣*I shared some additional beauty products in my stories today that I switched to during this struggle.⁣* ⁣ My heart goes out to those wanting a baby. There are plenty of diets to choose from when working on healing your gut and one size definitely does not fit all here. Here are some of the more popular gut healing diet protocols: Whole30- is a great intro into trying to understand what might be causing you digestive distress. It cuts out some major irritants for people like dairy and grains but it may not be enough for others. •Autoimmune Paleo (AIP)- cuts back even further than whole30 and also excludes things like nightshades which can be a real issue for those with autoimmune issues like hashimotos. If another elimination diet didn't help you out I would consider this one. •GAPS- or the Gut and Psychology Syndrome diet is based off of the Specific Carbohydrate diet both of which severely restrict the types of carbohydrates you eat in order to help bring balance back to gut flora. •Low-Fodmap- is similar in that it is used for restoring balance to the gut flora by restricting specific highly fermentable foods. •Low-histamine- this diet restricts foods that are high in histamine or are histamine releasing in order to allow the body to start to heal from histamines inflammatory processes. • ALL of these diets are NOT meant to be permanent. They are therapeutic in nature and include reintroduction of cut out foods at some point so if you try one please make sure to follow reintroduction protocols to see what may still be causing you issues and what you can safely add back in. • Have you tried one of these diets? While I know there is nothing one can do to really prepare for this transition, I wanted inform myself as much as I could. I started to have Intimate conversations with moms, taking online's courses, readings books, and I became a doula. It is very common in modern times to handover our bodies and decision making to the doctors, thus cutting ourselves from our own intuition. 🌙 c y c l e 🌙 Summer – Ovulation ☀️ The basal body temperature increases, and this is when we can feel warm (or have hot flushes, if hormones aren’t balanced). ☀️ Estrogen is HIGH! It has been busy preparing the lining of the endometrium, to be healthy and lush. ☀️ Ovulation is the release of an egg. This event lasts one day, and an egg survives for only 24 hours. However, Sperm can survive for 3-5 days in healthy conditions, which makes your fertile window approx 6-7 days! ☀️ Ovulation is the wild, main act of our cycle. And often times under represented in health and fertility. There are many key characters, that come into play around Day 14. ☀️ Luteinising hormone, Follicle Stimulating Hormone, Testosterone and Estrogen all peak. This results can make us feel exhilarated, jittery, full of fire. ☀️ Being depleted of energy can cause the reverse and create a bit of a slump where rest and downtime are needed. ☀️ If loss, timing, difficulty conceiving, IVF, and fertility have been part of your story- ovulation can be a time of tension in the body. ☀️ In Summer, we seek out connection socially and intimately. We are interested in other people, and confidence is at an all time high. This is Mother Nature’s way of making us attractive for a mate. ☀️ The peak of estrogen makes us social, happy and chatty. You can feel vibrant and ready-for-anything. ☀️ This is the season to work out, and increase cardiovascular activity. The hormones in your blood are ready to build muscle and support a higher heart rate!
