Gestational Diabetes. GDM Screening. #gestationaldiabetes #gestationaldiabetespregnancy __________ First off, being diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes does not make you a bad mom already. You haven't failed. It is not because you are overweight, gained too much weight in pregnancy, or even ate that pizza slice a few weeks ago. __________ Gestational Diabetes has to do with your placenta & hormone regulation (aka insulin resistance). Yes, there are predisposing factors & lifestyle/family factors that would make one more prone to having GDM or overt diabetes ( which is usually found at your first prenatal visit via a serum hemoglobin A1c using ADA criteria). However, many women find themselves in pregnancy with elevated levels had minimal to no increased risk prior -are of normal weight- & exercise (shout out to some of my dear friends & family). __________ GDM is common. So stop the #momguilt #momdoubts . Know no matter what-- there is support if you become diagnosed with GDM. What is most important? Awareness & #patienteducation from the moment of diagnosis. Identifying & integrating GDM appropriate therapy can decrease fetal & maternal morbidity. It can lower rates of #macrosomia #shoulderdystocia & even #preeclampsia . ________________ So, what is this terrific orange drink I am holding? This is usually the wonderful option (although there are several flavors) given to patients at the 1hr gtt screening for GDM ordered around 24-28weeks gestation. It is a 50-gram glucose drink. Fun fact, I am a bit strange & don't find it gross. It reminds me of a childhood orange soda. __________ This process for testing is supported by #acog & considered a two step process. First step- perform a 1hr glucose tolerance test non fasting of 50grams. If such test is abnormal (> 140 -some say >130mg/dL ), progress to the second step-Repeat a 3hr glucose tolerance test of a 100gram drink now fasting. Blood serum levels are then drawn: fasting, @ 1hr, 2hr, 3hr marks after ingestion of the drink. In 2017, ACOG stated that even 1 abnormal value may be used for the diagnosis of GDM in step 2 (vs 2abnormal). In the US, many providers follow the 2step screen/testing. Tips/info👇

This is what our fertility wellbeing sessions are all about; finding the joy in life again. #freedomfertilityformula #amazingfreedomfertility #fertilitywellbeing Repost @fertilityaffirmations ・・・ I know that the sadness and heartache can be overwhelming at times- infertility is not something you can just simply not think about. But trying to enjoy life as best we can is so important! Is there something in your life that you are putting off doing because of infertility? Mine was my wedding. I got engaged in 2014 just a few months after we started trying to have a baby. We figured the baby would be a few months old at our wedding the following summer. The wedding kept getting pushed back as we just wanted to have a baby first. Well...fast forward to 2019. We have a 7 month old and will probably never getting married! At least not anytime soon! That’s okay of course, but in hindsight I do wish we had just pushed forward and had a beautiful wedding in the midst of all the chaos of fertility treatments and infertility.

There’s a lot of support around the mechanics of getting pregnant if you’re having fertility issues, but very little around your mental health as you navigate the options and get prodded and poked. There’s no doubt that what’s going on in our mind has an impact on our body. Taking time and space in a structured way to work through everything is vital and super empowering as we deal with all the medical terminology and are bombarded with advice and information. #takecontrol #yourownpath #mindbodyconnection #freedomfertilityformula #amazingfertilitywellbeing #fertilitywellbeing #fertilitysupport

The benefits of preconception care according to The World Health Organisation can have massive benefits for both the health of mother, baby and child. It is important that positive diet and lifestyle changes are made at least three months before conception and that emotional and mental health is addressed before hand too. Making important positive changes not only enhances the wellbeing of the couple but can also impact generations to come. On my workshop we will look at what you can do as a couple to properly prepare for creating a new human. Build a Baby Workshop 18th May Alma Vale Centre 10am-12.30pm £65 per couple.

TRANSITIONAL CERVICAL FLUID

I don’t kno

Repost @fertilitycharting ・・・ TRANSITIONAL CERVICAL FLUID I don’t know about you, but during my 30 years on this planet if there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s that humans are not machines (and nor should they ever wish to be!). This is super important to keep in mind when charting your cervical fluid. You’ll commonly see cervical fluid categories in apps and paper charts that follow a typical pattern of Sticky, Creamy, Eggwhite, Watery. The thing to keep in mind is that your body doesn’t simply switch at the click of your fingers from one type to another. Instead, changes in cervical fluid are often gradual - it’s likely that you will see a mix of two types in one sitting. It’s also likely that you’ll see cervical fluid that’s inbetween two categories and not quite either! This is known as transitional cervical fluid - it’s transitioning from one state to the next. In the picture above on the left you can see some non-peak cervical fluid (looks a little creamy), interspersed with a small strand of low quality eggwhite cervical fluid (clear, slippery and stretchy). This is a transitional day where cervical secretions are transitioning from non-peak to peak-type. This user needs to mark “Peak” or “Eggwhite” on their chart because you should always mark the MOST FERTILE type of fluid you see each day. A few days later, this user sees high quality Eggwhite cervical fluid as shown in the picture on the right - they mark this on their chart as “Peak” or “Eggwhite” too. Moral of the story - keep an eye out for transitional fluid, and ALWAYS mark the most fertile type of fluid you see on your chart. Observations are often shades of grey when it comes to cervical fluid! If you’re having trouble categorising your cervical fluid I always recommend working with an instructor - hit the link in bio to browse instructors X Most importantly - observing and recording your cervical fluid is only one part of a larger equation. Specific rules are used to open and close the fertile window and you need to be crystal clear on those rules too! Again - an instructor is your best bet here. #fertilitycharting #fertilityawareness #amazingfreedomfertility #fertilitywellbeing

Repost @thisisalicerose ・・・ Popped into see our fertility consultant this morning. We explained to Matilda we were going to see a special doctor who helped to make her! She looked at us like we’d slightly lost the plot. He had her embryo picture on file and showed it to her, then said, ‘this is you!’. She, again, looked nonplussed. But it was a special moment for us! It’s hard to know how much to share publicly here about our journey to try and conceive a sibling for her. My aim with this account is to empower and support people going through infertility rather than speak much about our own experience of secondary infertility (or motherhood). Si is a really private person as well so, you know- have to take that into consideration 😂. But in a nutshell we’ve been trying naturally for a year and a half and now we’re looking into treatment options. I’m excited rather than nervous; hopeful...but if I’m honest, slightly detached. I’m taking the whole thing step by step and I know I have the tools to cope with whatever happens, however long this journey is and whatever the outcome. I just feel huge gratitude for the daughter I do have and the wonderful care I know we’ll get from a doctor I trust. So! I’ll try to be as open as I can while honouring our own needs as we go through it all - but you know what’s so amazing? Knowing you guys are all here, if and when I need you; and I am so grateful for that 💛Happy weekends xx wearing my lush @mutha.hood @feathering_the_empty_nest tee #stronggirlsclub #amazingfreedomfertility #fertilitywellbeing #freedomfertilityformula

Inspired by their personal experience of unexplained secondary infertility, Bud fertility formulas have been created to support all those in the pursuit of parenthood. . Bud founders Tim and Sarita Heard’s #ttc journey lasted four long years. But ended very happily with the arrival of twins, after the help of IVF and some very clever people at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital! . This experience gave them an insight into the reality of fertility problems that so many people unexpectedly have to face. Exercise. Is exercise good? Can too much be a bad thing? Can you exercise when #ttc or in #ivf or preparing for a #frozenembryocycle ? Can exercise help the rollercoaster of #fertilitytreatment ? The answers to all questions is YES YES YES and YES! Exercise is great for #preconceptionhealth . It helps with circulation, maintaining a healthy weight , and stabilizing blood sugar. It is very beneficial to one's mental health. It can help alleviate stress, calm nerves and provide a "release". For men and women undergoing #advancedreproductivetherapies moderate exercise for 30-60minutes shows to improve fertility. However, it is important for women to exercise cautiously and take a break when in the middle of the #ivfprocess #ivftreatment The ovaries are enlarged when on stimulation meds and exercising vigorously could lead to serious medical emergencies such as ovarian torsion (which would inhibit blood flood to the ovary). It is usually advised not to exercise after five days of stimulation meds. Research indicates more than 3-5 hours of vigorous exercise for women may decrease pregnancy rates. #fertilityfitness #fitforfertility #fertilityfittip . Therefore, moderate exercise, light lifting, stretching, and walking are the preferred #exercises for those on their #ttcjourney . What are your favorite #exerciseroutines And habits? My current favorites are yoga and or a ride on my spin bike #peloton #mypeloton Comment below👇with your favs. #fertilityframework

Thank you to the incredibly brave Instagram fitness influencer @annavictoria and her husband for sharing their struggles with infertility and helping to break the fertility taboo. ・ Anna’s post: . Life doesn’t always go as planned, and that’s ok. Just shared a life update on YouTube ❤️ no, not pregnant. Quite the opposite, actually. . It was really hard for me to open up about this and I went back and forth for months. But ultimately I realized this is a topic that needs to be discussed more, out in the open, so other women don’t feel so alone in their struggles. . This is probably the one thing I never expected to encounter in my life, and saying it’s been hard would be an understatement. It’s been hard on me, on Luca, on our relationship, but it’s also brought us even closer together. We will get through this and we just have to trust that God has a plan. . The video is on my YouTube channel (just search Anna Victoria), and more videos are to come.
