Have you ever wanted Mexican Food so bad you thought you would die? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Years ago, I got it in my head that the way to get into my “best shape” ever was l compete in a figure/bikini contest. Naturally if you are struggling with body image, dieting and binge eating, that makes total sense. 😳🤷🏻‍♀️ Hindsight in 20/20, right? I remember at the height of one of my carb cycling weeks walking by a Mexican restaurant with Matt and feeling overwhelmed with hunger. I wanted it more than I had wanted anything in a long time. I had become obsessed with what I was eating, when I would eat it, and what I shouldn’t eat. I would live for cheat meals and feel guilty if I ate anything considered to be cheating. Ugh- this makes me heart heavy even typing this out, and when I think of these old habits, I cringe. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Fast forward to freedom. It didn’t happen overnight but I have found a way to love and care for my body to be my healthiest self. Today, I woke up HAPPY, energized, and excited to rock a prep workout for our new program launching on 7/29. I love lifting weights because it makes me feel strong. I enjoy cardio simply for the joy of moving, so I went on a walk today just because it felt good. I don’t count calories anymore and my nutritionist has helped to totally change my mindset around how I eat. I choose delicious, healthy food most of the time, and enjoy treats because that is what balance is about. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Girlfriend: I want you to know that it is 100% possible to have JOY in the process of getting healthy. I am living proof. It’s not about doing it perfectly. It about making an effort to make small choices each day. Then, one day you will look up, and see that you have transformed not only your physical health; but you mind too. You’ve got this, you just have to take the next best step. These are two of my favs right now to build my underdeveloped hamstrings. I do them as back to back exercises because I like to follow a heavy contraction movement with a stretch movement for my hammies. I like both of these exercises because the positioning helps me force hamstring engagement vs letting my quads do what the normally do and try to rule the world. —————————————————— Dead-stop Bulgarian squat. The dead stop is deadly. Make sure you let the weights set on the ground so you are forced to re-engage your hamstrings and glutes to pull yourself back up. If you don’t whimper a bit after each set and question your life choices you aren’t doing them right. The forward leaning posture feels best for engagement for me here, but everyone’s anatomy will be a bit different. ——————————————————- Banded RDL. Really focus on that hip hinge here. This is also good with those who deal with anterior pelvic tilt. My glutes and upper hammies shake at the end of these sets. Do your first sets with no weight, you should be concentrating the movement so hard on your glutes that it should be challenging even without the added weight. Don’t add weight until the bodyweight movement alone is challenging.

I was an athlete in high school and even though I was self conscious then, I thought I was invincible to the freshman 15 and honestly thought it was a joke. . Fast forward to the middle of my college career, 50 lbs heavier. Turns out the freshman 15 wasn't a joke, and I let myself go. When I stopped playing sports and working out, and replaced those things with beer and Baccis pizza (you know what I'm talking about Bradley peeps) weight gain was inevitable. . I made jokes about it, and tried to use my humor to hide just how shitty I felt. Not only did my clothes not fit, but I remember my friends wanted to hike and I felt embarrassed because I was so out of shape and out of breath I couldn't continue. That was a huge hit to my ego considering I was previously an athlete. . Then my doctors started getting concerned about my blood pressure, because it was slowly getting higher and higher. . I lividly remember sitting in lecture, scrolling through insta and I came across an offer for a "challenge group". I didn't know what to expect, but I knew enough was enough and I had to join asap. I was so anxious and scared, but also excited to get started. . That challenge group changed (possibly saved) my life, and it was after that I decided I had to give back and start these challenge groups myself. If I can do it, I know you can too.

Yesterday was a more chill day as we were up at like 4:30am to catch our flight but today was a tad more productive as I managed to get a gym session in👏🏽 The gym here is HELLA basic so looks like it’s gunna be bodyweight exercises only for me this week😂 yet defo till managed to get a sweat on (lol dunno whether that’s the lack of aircon but I’ll take it anyway😂) anywhooooooooooo let me know if you guys are keen for hotel/lack of equipment workout vids as I will defo try and film one if you are💕💕 ⁣ ⁣ Hope you’re all having a fab week❣️✨

Training update ⭐️ So it’s been over a week since I finished college and I actually don’t know what to do with myself, I’ve got some workouts in between teaching and work but it’s not the same as training all day every day! I’m going to have to make myself a plan even if it’s just some home circuits and HIIT workouts because I really don’t feel like I’m doing enough and I wanna make the most of this time off!
