A lot of yogis have some pretty insane mobility in their spine, over time however too much mobility or hyper flexibility can lead to back pain (yes all that hyper-flexibility you see in back bends on social media actually isn’t a good thing). Also, with a strong practice that incorporates a lot of arm balances and inversions , the wrists are put under a lot of strain ..(always remember balance - too much of anything can be detrimental).... I honestly believe that weight training should be incorporated with a yoga practice. Just as yoga can increase the longevity of your weight training , weight training can also increase the longevity of your yoga practice by building the required muscles that keep your spine supported in a neutral position and building the required strength to protect your wrists (ultimately it builds the required strength and muscle to be able to handle higher loads of stress and prevent joints/limbs from being hyper mobile or unstable) .
