Years ago I dated a man (if you could even call him that 😂) who wanted to change everything about me. He wanted my hair to be different, wanted me to get implants, tattoos, etc. He wanted me to be fit - but “not too muscular.” 🙄 He wanted me to be successful, but heaven forbid I be more successful than him. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I found myself constantly doubting and questioning who I was - if I was good enough, pretty enough, interesting enough. I felt I had to hide my accomplishments, intelligence, opinions, everything that made me, ME. 💁🏼‍♀️⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ If I said something intelligent, he would accuse me of “thinking I was smarter than everyone else” 🙄 If I was passionate about an issue, he would tell me “I was going overboard.” The worst part is I actually started believing these things. I could actually feel myself shrinking by theday. It took a long time but when I finally got the courage to end it - I never looked back💃🏼⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ At one point, in a different headspace, I would have looked at this picture and picked it apart. Now I look at it and mostly just feel happy. I look strong, capable, confident. Most importantly, I FEEL strong, capable, and confident. I don’t even question whether I’m too muscular because even if you think I am, your opinion doesn’t actually matter 😱shocking, I know.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Who you surround yourself with is important. Who you choose to love and be vulnerable with matters 👊 Make sure it’s someone who treats you well and lets you be yourself. And most importantly, don’t ever shrink yourself for a guy. You are not too much or too little of anything ✌️💕
