Talking TPI screen tips and kind of what I look for. Starting with the pelvic tilt test and using @reedhrynewich_pfs as an example. He moves pretty well but if he was a first time client coming in and his pelvic tilt looked good with out asking questions, I would have missed his pain in the anterior tilt position. Good way to get the feel is a simple cat/dog pattern. If they feel less pain or perform the drill better, there is a lot of information I receive there. Don't just "run" then through a quick screen with out diving deeper. Could be missing something where the client needs to be referred out to a medical professional to "clear" The pain. Guys good one to remember when your feeling like your not succeeding! - Our bodies are mostslty composed of water, not fat! Therefore most the changes we see from day to day are water changes, not fat changes. - 1️⃣Recent increase in cardio (increases blood volume) This is one to remember, this can add up to 5lbs in some people, just plasma and new red blood cells! This can cause big stalls In scale weight. - 2️⃣Recent increase in weight lifting (Sore muscles retain water) - 3️⃣Any soreness, injury or bruising (causes inflammation - local water retention) - 4️⃣Any illnesses (same as above) - 5️⃣Eating large meals within the last 5 days- large meals take multiple days to digest, during which not only the meal itself, but also a mass of water, equivalent to 2X the meals weight, will all be in your gut for digestion. - (Eat little and often) - 6️⃣Eating more carbs after a period of not having eaten as many carbs (causes liver and muscles to increase glycogen stores , each 1g of glycogen is packed with 4g of water so you end up with water weight. - 7️⃣Change in dietary fibre (affects number 2 weight) - 8️⃣Recent exposure to heat (exercising in heat) - 9️⃣Increase in sodium intake - Trust your work, trust your diet and your calorie deficit, if you are tracking your foods accurately and you really are truthfully eating a calorie deficit, there is no way not to be loosing fat! • I DID IT!!! • ____________________ I got a little emotional today walking out of my first very fitness class that I (!!!) taught. If you told me at the beginning of my time here at WCU that I would be doing this my senior year, I would have laughed in your face. ____________________ I have worked so hard to get here. I came to college so insecure and so unconfident in my skin. Now, I am amazed at how many awesome things my body is capable of doing. ___________________ I have gone from forcing myself to go to the gym, to making it a part my daily routine and loving every second of it. I have gone through years of trial and error to figure out the importance of finding the foods that fuel MY body and make me feel awesome. I have learned that pizza is not bad, and I deserve it every now and again. ___________________ Maybe I’m bragging about myself, but I’m just so darn proud of the work I’ve put in to treat my body the way it should be treated. Freshman in college Annelise would be so proud. ____________________ I’m so passionate about healthy living, and I’m so ecstatic that I get to share that passion with others. Yay! It’s already Wednesday! . We’re halfway through the week! . Wanna know what else is crazy?! . We’re about halfway through January! . How are you going with those new year goals?? . Here’s an arm workout to get you back on track or to keep you on track. . It focuses on biceps and triceps and includes supersets. . So there’s limited rest breaks throughout it. . It’s a quick workout that’s able to have a lot of different exercises within it. . The whole workout took about 35 minutes, as long as you take short breaks. . Let me know if you try it. . At home leg workout! . I did this workout at the gym this morning. . It was a little different, but I modified it a little so that it could also be done at home. . It works your entire leg and is great for those snowy days when you don’t feel like going to the gym. . But you still want to get a great workout in! . So check it out during that next snow day. 😉 . Today a student asked me about protein powders. I don't use protein powders. I take protein and/or fiber from chia seeds, flex & pumpkin seeds, tahini, peanut butter, dairy, all sorts fruit and veg (well, not all sorts cause I'm a bit picky😏). Now, I'm not a dietitian but having spent years exercising and being a fitness trainer and yoga teacher...if you were my client I'd advice you to either take your protein directly from food or make sure you choose wisely on the brand and the type of powder you use (sugar, indigestion...and worse case scenario pesticides, heavy metals) . UNLESS you're a weight lifter or a full on fitness trainer that you need to work out hard daily and so you need to take extra protein, you can fullfil your body's needs by eating good food.
