WHAT IS HEALTHY?? - You need to understand that eating “healthy” doesn’t necessarily = Fat Loss! 🔥 - The most common statement I hear as a Nutritional Coach is “I eat healthy but I’m not losing weight”. Does that sound familiar?? - The biggest problem is people don’t understand that “healthy” & weight loss are not the same thing! - ➡️ HEALTHY = providing your body with the essential #Macronutrients (protein, fats & carbohydrates) & #Micronutrients (Vitamins & Minerals) for optimal daily functions & maintenance of all the #cells in the human body. - ➡️ FAT LOSS = eating lower calories then required each day...usually by eating less food in total or choosing foods with lower caloric density. - These two are not mutually exclusive. Some big examples are the idea of “healthy fats” such as: ➡️ Avocado 🥑 ➡️ Nuts 🥜 ➡️ Salmon 🐟 ...These foods are certainly HEALTHY but are also full of calories because they contain so much fat. - For example: 100g of nuts 🥜 has 550+ calories compared to broccoli 🥦 which has 34 calories. - So essentially you can eat 1.6kg of broccoli 🥦 or 100g of nuts 🥜 for the SAME energy! #WHATTHEHELLWEDNESDAY 🔶️Cringe-worthy Fitness Buzzwords. . I wanted to showcase a trend this week, not single out individual silliness. These are my least favorite "titles" gaining traction on #socialmedia. . 🔹️" Wellness coach"- This space seems to be dominated by women who no longer compete in physique competition. A few months prior most of these females were on the #roadtopro and competing in physique contests 10 times per year. A common theme is that they have had negative experiences with other coaches and/or competition. They often write long posts on how competing destroyed their thyroid or how their hormones have yet to recover. Many are very vocal about struggling with poor relationships with food and body image issues. They are now champions of self-love and body positivity. 🔶️This market segment is pretty strange. They resent physique competition and champion "non-scale victories". Personally, I would never hire someone that doesn't look the part and was dim enough to allow themselves to get wrecked in the first place. . 🔹️" Transformation Specialist"- This one boggles my mind. It is implied that anyone in the fitness industry should be a "transformation specialist" because it is literally the only reason that someone hires a coach or trainer. If you're not a "transformation specialist" what are you? A mediocrity salesman? 🔶️In my experience, trainers/coaches that target extremely overweight clients are on just breaking into the industry. Helping a 400lb person lose 50lbs by encouraging them to stop drinking 3 liters of Coca-Cola a day is a wonderful thing to do. However, it does not make you a transformation specialist, it makes you a purveyor of common sense.

In fact you can enjoy the foods you really like, as long as you control your portions and hit your calorie intake 🍔 . That said, it’s not about eating junk all the time either. #Repost @thefitnesschef_ • • • • • • The fresh memory of an extravagant Easter the previous day grips Monica as she changes onto the circle line at Hammersmith. Commuters rush whilst assaulting breakfast pastries in such a way that 9:30AM indigestion is the only outcome for them, for near passers by, a scalp of pastry flakes awaits. - - As she hoofs her way up 157 steps at Covent Garden because the elevators are swarming like opportunistic wasps to BBQ food, she confirms that this day is like any other day. A day of normality. A day where routine gets her by. - - The previous day however, was Easter Day. Along with her birthday and Christmas Day these days are like no others. They are exceptional in that they occur once each calendar year. Special times to be enjoyed, celebrated and free from normality. - - Monica appreciates that her Easter actions thoroughly disregarded most aspects of her fitness goal - but she was consummately content. Because it was one day out of 365. One day of caloric excess which was insignificant with respect to her nutritional progression over 365 days. But one day which was very significant to her happiness. - - It is this logic that has allowed Monica to change from pessimistic self loathing regarding such days which, in context, do not harm her end goal at all - in fact, they enhance it. Because previous guilt has been emphatically washed away in place of pride that she has complete understanding and control of her nutritional intentions and results. She knows her accuracy is precise on those many normal days, allowing for relaxation on those few extraordinary days. - - She finally makes her way to the top of the stairs en route to a 6 month dental check up. She walks past the same spot she did 6 months earlier when she mutilated herself esteem after a calorie excessive birthday. She casts a wry smile. Because whilst today represents the return to normality once more, she enjoyed the f*ck out of her Easter.
