🙄Tell me if this cycle sounds familiar…⠀ ⠀⠀ You’ll reach a point where you’re sick and tired of being overweight and eating like shit, so you decide to make a drastic change.⠀ ⠀⠀ You’ll go from eating huge portions of high-calorie foods and virtually zero fruits & veggies to hardly eating any calories and eliminating everything you consider “bad.”⠀ ⠀⠀ 🤷‍♀ It works...till it doesn't.⠀ ⠀⠀ Usually 2-6 weeks after starting, you give up and return to what you were doing before.⠀ ⠀⠀ Most people does this — they make dieting way harder and way more unenjoyable than it needs to be.⠀ ⠀⠀ And it all comes down to your mindset starting out.⠀ ⠀⠀ See, most people are only concerned with how much weight they can lose…⠀ ⠀⠀ They don’t care what they have to do in the short-term — if they can get the 10, 20, or 30+ pounds they want to lose off as quickly as possible, they’ll try anything.⠀ ⠀⠀ 🤔 But therein lies the problem…⠀ ⠀⠀ People care about losing weight, and not enough about keeping it off. They care about getting lean, but they don’t think about what it’ll take to stay lean for life.⠀ ⠀⠀ Here’s the truth —> there’s nothing wrong with wanting to lose weight, build muscle, look sexy, etc.⠀ ⠀⠀ Just remember…Regardless of how long it takes you to get there, you’re going to be spending a much larger portion of your life maintaining your results. ⠀⠀ (At least, I would hope that’s what you want! )⠀ ⠀⠀ And when it comes to maintaining your success, it all comes down to HOW you go about getting there in the first place.⠀ ⠀⠀ 🙌 My advice? Whether your goal is muscle gain or fat loss, the key takeaway from these photos is that it’s all about eating high quality, whole foods, plenty of veggies and a sufficient amount of protein, whether that’s animal or plant based. Now, the calories are shown in the photos but these meal ideas in general show how you can customize portion sizes to fit your needs whether you’re tracking calories or not. . A breakdown of the examples are explained below but remember to customize your diet to you and your specific needs because everybody is different: . Breakie 🍳 (eggs, avo & veggies) 👉🏼Higher calorie/larger portion: 4 eggs, 1 tsp coconut oil 200g Kale, 150g Tomatoes, 1 Avocado 👉🏼Lower calorie/smaller portion The same but minus 1/2 Avocado, 1 egg, 100 grams Kale. . #PrepUpdate 👙: None too shabby after 6 days in Vegas! Managed to stay on track by bringing my food scale to most restaurants and ordering things without ( or lite) butter & oil. You'd be surprised just how accommodating most places are if you just ask! Up about a pound, but with travel and excess sodium from outside food that's to be expected, and it's already coming back off. Because of those factors and since I'm still 16 weeks out from @spectrumfitnessproductions #NorCal, no changes were made this week! . Cardio 🚲 : Still just one HIIT session a week of 6 sprints. . Diet 🍚 : Carb cycling two higher carb and 5 lower carb. I'm on @myfitnesspal as "yvetters77" if you want details. . Workouts🏋🏽‍♀️: Not as strong after 4 days out of the gym, but I'm still pushing the same weight as when we left and that's good enough for this week. Also: S O R E! Have you heard the phrase 'skinny fat' before? 😅 . Basically, someone can look lean with their clothes on but their body fat is actually quite high and muscle mass low 😐 . 🔥 Skinny fat people tend to do more cardio and minimal weight training. This isn't necessarily always a bad thing. They possibly eat too little, have a low protein diet and in our experience can be inconsistent and always looking for quick fixes 🆕 . The GOOD NEWS if your skinny fat is that things can change, for the better, quite quickly. . ✖️Incorporate 2-4 sessions of resistance training p/w ✖️Make sure you’re consuming adequate calories ✖️Consume 1g of protein per pound of lean body mass (LBM) . Keep consistent and within a few weeks/months you'll notice some real changes in your body composition 💪 . Workout: ▫️Lying hamstring curls (3x15) **not pictured ▫️Straight leg deadlifts on the smith machine (4x10) ➡️ i’m standing on a box because i’m too short to get any depth without it 👍🏼 ▫️Row machine hamstring curls (3x12) ▫️ Staggered stance dumbbell hip thrusts (3x15 each side) 🔷Superset: ▪️Machine Abductions (3x20) **Control these! take it slow and don’t try to go too heavy (all about that mind-muscle connection) ▪️Seated leg curls (3x10 with 10 pulses at the end of each set, not pictured) . ▫️Lying addictions (3x20 each side) ▫️ABS 🔥 . Me and Simon got an awesome workout at boot camp this morning, got to explore union market for the first time (it’s so cool 😭) and now mom is in town and we are about to do some apartment shopping!
