famousplacesinindia. The fort that has made its mark in history as the second largest wall

The fort that has made its mark in history as the second largest wall after the Great Wall of China – it is none but the Kumbhalgarh fort in Rajasthan. The mighty fort is 3600 ft tall and 38km long that surrounds the area of Udaipur. It was considered to have been built by Rana Kumbha in the 15th century. The fort is further declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is under the group Hill Forts of Rajasthan. It is located strategically on the western Aravalli hills. Having witnessed a large number of wars, the hill serves as the boundary that is unbreakable. The fort that has seven fortified gateways and a number of Jain temples within it , along with the Lakhola Tank which is the most famous tank inside the fort that was constructed by Rana Lakha. The fort consists of a number of Hindu temples and Jain temples that indicate the religious tolerance of the rulers and how they patronized the Jains and encouraged their culture in the kingdom. The best time to visit the fort is during winters between the months of October to February when the climate is cooler. “It’s never too late to be who you might have been” - George Eliot ✨ ✨ Every January, there are days when I think about things that I could have done differently the year before. Times when I wonder about all the places that I could have explored, work I could have dedicated my time to, done things that I am truly passionate about and what not. ✨ As much as I hope that you had a productive 2018, I wonder if there were things that you wish you started or spent more time on too. It could be anything from going somewhere to pursuing your passion to spending time with your loved ones. ✨ ✨ For me, it’s my website! Its something that I have been working on since so many days and every time I get close to finishing it, I feel like it’s not good enough. I dedicate so much unnecessary time to thinking about how it should be all perfect that I end up with nothing but immense pressure and procrastination. ✨ ✨ This year, that is definitely something that I want to deal with differently and have my blog up and running as soon as possible. I hope that together we can all conquer our fears & have no regrets by the end of the year. Let’s all dedicate our time and energy on things that our future-selves be proud and thankful for. Who’s with me? ✨ ✨ ✨ ✨ #amer #amberfort #amerfort #fortsofindia #jaipur #beautifuljaipur #citizenfemme #condenastindia #iamtb #jaipurcityblog #igersjaipur #incredibleindia #coloursofindia #girlsmeetglobe #digitalnomad #jaipurdiaries #jaipurtalks #jaipurlove #pinkcityjaipur

Quick facts of Kangra fort- The Kangra Fort is the largest fort in the Himalayas and 8th largest in India. This fort has been subjected to countless attacks and almost all rulers who ever walked the land of India tried to take the Kangra Fort under their control as it was said: ‘He who holds the Kangra fort, holds the hills. Once a well of treasures, this ancient fort was looted by a number of enemy armies — from Muhammad Bin Tughlaq to the British –but its final fall was to nature. The fort is also India’s oldest dated fort, said to be built around 3,500 years ago by Maharaja Susharma Chandra, a descendant of the Katoch family. Pc @factorofchaos . The Belar fort in Kerala sits 6 kms from a 'blink and you miss it', Belar town. The fort spread over 4 acres is one of the biggest forts in Kerala. Situated near the Karnataka-Kerala border, this once important coastal town and fort seem long forgotten today. Completed in 1650 by Shivappa Nayaka of the Keladi Nayaka fuedory, this fort sits in an all important location. Well, atleast back then. When Haider Ali of Mysore expanded his kingdom further south, the forth eventually fell in his hands. His successor, Tipu Sultan cemented the importance of the fort by making it his operational headquarters during his expansion in Malabar. It wasn't until the end of the Mysore empire and the subsequent rise of the British East India Company did the strategic and economic importance of the fort dissipate. Today, the fort sits and waits for a return to its past glory, much like the other forts in the country. But much like the fast moving traffic on the national highway located minutes from the fort, it merely seems like a blur today. #traveller_stories #travelphotography #travelholic #travelgram #traveller #travelling #traveling #travelblogger #travelers #travelandliving #traveller_india #travellergram #wanderluster #wanderlust #wanderer #explorepage #explore #explorer #fortsofindia #fortsofinstagram #forts #indianfortsandpalaces #indianhistory #historyofindia #bekalfort #solorider #solotraveler #solotravel #solo #seafort

The Fort of Gwalior is something entirely different from other forts, as far as the facade is concerned. The blue motifs, tiles, and the yellow ducks adorning the walls is going to have you fixated for sure. I was left mesmerized as much as wishing I had a wide lens camera with me. And to think this bright place has seen such dark times. #GwaliorFort #gwalior #MadhyaPradesh #travel #history #TravelDiaries #travelgram #india #fortsofindia
