FLEXIBILITY is the name of the game these days. We were expecting our equipment to arrive all the way from Australia this morning — the wonderful “window” of time from 9-11. (via @functionalpatterns) MFR is great. It is even better when we program movements into our body that guide a distortion out first, using the MFR to push it out later. There are some places on the body that will simply never "release". Why? Because there is no functional tension to allow that release to happen. Most myofascial distortions are brought on by poor reactions to gravity. Until the poor reactions to gravity are mended, there will be some places on the body so calcified that a release won't help. We all have to learn to move in ways that respect our blueprint as humans. Until we learn to stand, walk, run, throw and move in 4 dimensions effectively, these distortions will continue to nag us. The solution is a bit complicated, but it can be learned. . . For building strength and muscle long term, skill acquisition is 👑. - When you’re starting a new exercise. Always start with low intensity weight and focus on movement. What should be stabilized and what should be contracting. - Doing 3 sets of a new exercise isn't enough volume when learning a new exercise. Do multiple sets like 5 or 6 and try to get a better contraction every rep. Do the exercise 2-3 times per week. Since the intensity is low you won’t burn out. - The purpose for trying different variations of an exercise from various angles is to find the most optimal position for your body to get the best contraction while sparring your joints. - Reps, Sets, Time, and Weight are inferior to skill acquisition in terms of building muscle long term. - Here’s a different way to use the preacher curl machine. I’m using it to target my lower lats. Locking out the opposing arm and push into the pad gives my scapulas better stability. Something you don’t see is that I am fully squeezing my abs throughout. Attention to detail is difference in getting results long term. - Try this one out and let me know how it went or if you need any tips. I wish I could’ve had someone record this . This is all could get without looking like a jackass , LMBO! I came up with a cool exercise. It was pretty funny trying to record , hence why I only got the bottom half lmao . These movements were performed sitting in an upright position with my legs elevated WHILE holding tension in the bands . Yea i know , might be hard to picture . Anyways , it’s a badass ab workout . You also hit the glutes , thighs , abductors/adductors , and burn hella calories . It really becomes a total body workout . Depending on where you’re holding the bands determines which muscles you hit. .The key is to hold your back nice and straight ,and control each movement .
