I then line a tray with baking paper and spread the blueberries on it evenly. If you find yourself no longer having fun working out, try some of these things to get your more excited. - (1) LISTEN TO MUSIC: You probably do this already, but if you don't I'd highly recommend it. Listening to your favorite song or podcast might be the thing that helps you go all out on your sets. - (2) HAVE A GYM BUDDY: Having someone going through the workout with you can be very motivating, and you can really help push one another throughout the workout. - (3) GET A GOOD PUMP: One of the best feelings in the gym is getting a gnarly pump. If you want to do that, throw some high rep sets into your routine, or add in some drop sets. - (4) TEST YOUR LIMITS: One great way to test your progress is to go for a PR on a lift. We have solid evidence showing this is not beneficial for muscle growth. - A 2017 meta-analysis shows the eccentric (lowering down) part of a lift is at least as important as the concentric (bringing up) for muscle growth [1]. This is in line with a 2009 systematic review by the University of British Columbia [2].ย Therefore, make sure the muscles you're training control the weight down, rather than letting gravity do the work for you. 3 Day Workout Split To BUILD MUSCLE by @peter_bowman - A Full Body Routine works amazing if youโ€™re going to be in the gym just 2, or 3x per week! This routine is set up for 3 days a week and each day starts with one of the main compound lifts. - Full body routines usually work amazing for beginners, but more advanced individuals are starting to utilize them as well (or at least full body days). Full body routines are becoming more and more popular because of the research thats shows a higher frequency may be ideal. - Being advanced I prefer a higher volume approach for each body part. The volume that I find necessary to progress at the moment would be very hard to achieve with a full body approach. I would be in the gym for forever lol (intensity would be lacking). - The rep range for this routine was set between 8 and 12 reps to focus more so on hypertrophy. I feel that it is better to work with higher reps and lock down your form before focusing on real heavy weights. It allows them to practice movements three times a week, which no other split allows for. This is known as the principle at specificity.
