My time at my very first apartment is almost coming to an end. I am so grateful for the time I had here. Having the courage to move out and pay for the expenses myself was something I was very hesitant to do but an experience I always wanted. I don’t regret a single thing, this was the most impulsive but best decision I made for myself. . Currently, I am trying to sublet my current place as I get ready to move out into my new one this week. Its been so stressful. No one really tells you how hard it is to get on your feet (financially and mentally haha). I was going to post a workout video for you guys today but honestly the gym hasn’t been my priority this past week. . Hoping everything will fall into place soon. Despite all the stressors lately, I know once its all done with Im really going to put my new goals into action for you all. If you’re going through your own tough times, I wish you all good things, and I’m here to remind you that tough times don’t last forever, and you will get through this.

Saturday night spent at my favourite bar🌟 . I’m alwaysss an advocator for balance, I would never advise spending your life grinding away at the gym if it’s not your profession. When you look back you want memories that don’t just include barbells, squat racks and chicken breasts. . Last night I went to the pub, had a few beers and spent the morning under a duvet with the angel that is @ruthbutterfill, drank a lot of coffee and got nostalgic. So this eve I had a quick but brutal leg session. . I’ve been a lot more dedicated recently, mainly because I have nothing else to do🤣, but also because I’ve re-sparked my passion for training. I go because I enjoy it, not because I punish myself. My knee is also playing ball, so I’m able to do more and more each week. I’m stretching every session and making sure I listen to my body’s aches and pains! . weekly check ins are back in full swing ✅ Weight: 61.4kg Calories: 2400-2500 Cardio: 2 x 10 min HIIT sessions a week . . This may seem like high calories to some and relatively normal to others but I’ve been pushing calories for 7-8 months, and I’m now at the point where my strength has stalled and tbh I’m not comfortable pushing my calories any higher than this. Plus I’ve been fixated on non aesthetic goals for a while and so I’m excited to change the focus 💪🏼 . . Gonna maintain these calories until the end of the month and then it’a time to start chipping away ✂️

I've realised that I've not talked a huge amount about my own mental health, even though I said at the beginning of the year that it was going to be an area of growth for me to prioritise. I. Did. Not. Want. To. Write. This. Caption. But it does have to be done for me to be accountable in any way. Goes without saying, but... trigger warning. I suffer with both severe depression and General Anxiety Disorder. I can trace the early signs of depression to my early teens, and my anxiety as far back as aged 6. I have only acknowledged my suicidal ideation within the last year, although it's been in my mind for a fair bit longer. Whenever a health professional asks if I think that I or others would be better off if I were dead, I always say yes - because even though I know that it would devastate my family, in my irrational mind I don't really know how to feel any other way. Along with the ideation, though, I have no plan or intent... mum would be sad. My conditions impact so many other aspects of my life in the most annoyingly inconvenient ways, but maybe that's for another post entirely. I am currently not on medication and I am still on a waiting list to see a Psychological Wellbeing practitioner. I suppose being open about it does help, even if it has led to trolling in the past. The digs at my mental health don't affect me in the way that trolls assume - I tend to just feel sad that in this age of mental health awareness there is still so much ignorance and so little empathy... also why are you picking on people you don't know, maybe YOU need to talk to someone and get yourself checked out. I don't know how to end this on a positive note except to say that if you have any interest whatsoever in me talking more about my mental health (or lack thereof, lol) or discussing how to talk to loved ones who are having a hard time, let me know. I’m so fucking tired of reading everyone’s “motivational” pep talk bullshit on Instagram. Going to the gym doesn’t make you-or me!- a good person, or better than anyone else. It doesn’t make you a warrior or a beast. allocating several hours of my week to the selfish pursuit of strength and aesthetics doesn’t put me in a category above people who literally do not have that luxury. It’s not about motivation or dedication. We DO NOT all have the same 24 hours. I don’t have kids, which saves me HOURS each day not worrying about all of the associated things that come with children. Though it is a stressful one, I have a salaried, unionized job that covers my bills and provides health insurance so I don’t have to work a second or third one to make ends meet. I have access to several free gym thorough my husband’s job. I have a loving and supportive partner who helps out around the house and with our dogs, enabling me to spend several hours a week NOT doing household chores that other have to manage on their own. I have a dishwasher and a Roomba and several other household robots to make my life easier. This is privilege. Privilege is what enables me to do this. Not because I’m better at managing time. Not because I try harder. But because I am financially, physically, and mentally able to make it a priority at this point in my life- sometimes to the sacrifice of other things, even.

I don’t delete any old photos of me but I do keep them hidden because of how “ugly” I thought I used to be. Through the acne, braces, being overweight, depressed, and being awkward around people, true growth comes internally, not just externally. I’ve learned to select my battles, who and what I want to invest my energy to, prioritizing, and navigating through this journey called “adulting.” In retrospect, what do you guys want to work on to better yourselves and what steps will you take to get there?

It can be extremely difficult to be vulnerable. • To be honest, the photo on the left makes me uncomfortable. It makes me feel ashamed and embarrassed. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned on this journey it’s that your story is what makes you uniquely YOU. • I wouldn’t be the trainer I am today if I didn’t go on the journey myself. Ich male ja auch nicht, weil ich unzufrieden mit der Leinwand bin. Ich stehe ja nicht da und denke: "Ohgott dieses Leinwand! Ihgitt ihgitt!". Ich habe nichts gegen die Leinwand. Aber ich habe Spaß am Malen. Und wenn die Leinwand dann bemalt ist, kann ich die ja auch toll finden ohne zu denken: "Boar das war aber auch nötig, dieses hässliche Weiß vorher ging gar nicht". Ich sehe auch nicht: "Ich schminke mich nicht, weil das ist verlogen!". Ja gut, aber wo fangen wir dann an? Wenn ich Kleidung anziehe, die sehr gut sitzt? Wenn ich meine Haare auf bestimmte Weise trage? Wenn ich versuche eine nette Ausstrahlung zu haben? Ich weiß nicht. Wo fangen wir an? Oder auch: "Ich schminke mich nicht, weil ich nicht will, dass mein Äußeres von meinem Inneren ablenkt". Dann spricht doch einfach nicht mit Leuten, bei denen du das Gefühl hast. Es kann ja nicht sein, dass du nicht das mit deinem Äußeren machen kannst, was du vllt. willst, nur weil ein paar dann nur noch darauf achten. Das wären eh keine guten Leute für dich! Oder: "Oh sie schminkt sich, na, die wird wohl oberflächlich sein und sonst nichts anderes im Kopf haben". Entschuldigung. Hier ist der Punkt klar oder? Also: Klar, wenn du keine Lust auf Make Up hast und da keinen Spaß dran findet: Lass es. Wenn du nur Make Up trägst, weil du abhängig davon bist, weil du dich sonst nicht wohl fühlst: Hui, arbeite dran! Aber auch: Lass doch Leute Make Up tragen, wenn sie wollen, ohne sie dann nur darauf zu reduzieren. The most frustrating thing is when you’re trying to reach your goals and you know what you should be doing, but you just can’t stay on track. 😣⁣ ⁣ When I started working in the fitness industry a few years ago I still struggled with this. I had events coming up that I desperately wanted to look good for, but staying on track just felt impossible. I didn’t get why. 🤔⁣ ⁣ Here’s what would happen: ⁣ ⁣ I would think “I want to look good for this event in 6 weeks”.⁣ ⁣ So then of course if I slipped up I would think, ⁣ ⁣ “omg the event is in x amount of weeks, I better go a little more intense to make up for it so I still get to my goal”.⁣ ⁣ Then I’d go more intense, fall off track again, try and go even MORE intense to make up for it.... it was a vicious cycle. 😥⁣ ⁣ I am totally someone who’s impatient and wants things NOW. So this was very hard for me to get out of. 🥵⁣ ⁣ At a certain point I decided enough was enough and something had to change. ⁣ ⁣ Rather than having a short term goal, I was going to look at the bigger picture and not be so extreme. ☁️⁣ ⁣ This way when a slip up happened, I wouldn’t feel the need to “make up” for it. I didn’t have a short term goal, I was simply just trying to have healthier habits long term. If I ate something not planned I would think, “it’s okay, we’ll just get right back on track” and that was that! 😌⁣ ⁣ I no longer had that frantic, stressed out feeling in the pit of my stomach if I slipped up. I wouldn’t anxiously look in the mirror seeing if it “ruined my progress” I’d just forget about it, move on, and get right back on track. 😁⁣ ⁣ It’s weird because it’s such a tiny little mindset change, but honestly it’s what made me stop yo yo dieting. 😳⁣ ⁣ Even though it’s simple, it can take some time to really “click”. But truly think of this when you’re thinking about your fitness goals, and I’m telling you it will change everything 🙌🏼🤗
