I've dedicated one day to glutes for about two and a half years and I can definitely see the growth and I've seen the strength continue to increase. I almost always do hip thrusts on glute day, but try to switch between barbell and smith machine for variety and to hit the glutes a little bit differently each time. This is another PR for me. 😁 It's about 430 for 10 reps. I'm super happy with my progress. For you personally, what’s the hardest thing about staying active? Most of us, if not all, know that the benefits of working out are almost endless. From lowering the risk of chronic diseases to increasing energy levels and emotional well-being, there is no doubt that exercise is good for us. But that doesn’t mean we do it. Getting outside to take a brisk walk, taking a yoga class or going to the gym can seem overwhelming, if not impossible. What’s the biggest roadblock for you? For me it was lack of a plan. If I don’t have a plan in place to ensure that I stick to my goals, it can be easy to fall into a sedentary pattern. It’s been my goal to make it to the gym 4 to 5 times per week for the past seven months. Only in the past month or two has that actually happened. I finally found a program I’m committed to, and I have gone out of my way to fit the gym into my schedule. I joined a second (cheap) gym that had childcare so that I can workout during the day. On the days I have something going on, or I can’t get the kids out of the house, I wait until after they go to bed and then I go to the gym. Having a plan had helped me so much when it comes to sticking with my fitness goals. DYNAMIC STRETCHING! . I’ve received a lot of requests for my warm up routine and for general guidance with warming up before a workout. Before a strength/weight based workout I usually do around 5 minutes of light cardio (treadmill running, skipping etc) followed by a dynamic stretching routine. ͈ Dynamic stretching is a sequence of active movements which takes joints and muscles to go through a full range of motion. Basically it is moving as you stretch. Ideally your dynamic stretches should mimic the movement patterns you will be using in your workout however general dynamic warm up exercises can assist in preparing your body for most physical activity 🤸‍♀️ ͈ There are a lot of benefits of dynamic stretching such as: ͈ - Muscle activation - Improved range of motion - Improved body awareness - Increased flexibility ͈ A thorough warm up routine also lowers the risk of injuries sustained during the workout. Let your happiness shine ❤️ **** Last year I was unable to do my work without anxiety. Sometimes it got to the point where I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to get through sessions or weddings... I got panic attacks and anxiety attacks before weddings that lasted on/off for days. **** Today was one of those days when I didn’t even realize I didn’t have anxiety until I was about to leave home. I slept in, did a killer home quad/glute workout (resistance bands/kettlebell/bodyweight), took a shower and ate. Then I just went and did my thing (swipe left to see a phone snap from the session). Let me hit you with some vulnerability.. • This hike was a freaking CHALLENGE for me both physically and mentally. • Physically, the trail was super strenuous and the heat ramped the intensity way up. I couldn’t catch my breath. My legs were screaming. It was exhausting. • But mentally, this was a whole different beast that I had to conquer. This was primarily due to the fact that I am REALLY self-conscious about doing things I am not good at. • If I feel like the weak link for even a second, I get frustrated. • If I feel like the weak link for hours, I get hella emotional. • I have seen the same thing happen with my clients.
