Throwback to the certification days. Seeing this picture today brought back such a myriad of emotions. I am so much in awe of the human body, how it can progress, adapt, strategize, grow, strengthen, connect, and so much more. I am so glad those days of certification are over, and yet miss them desperately in the same breath. After the certification process ends, of course you never stop learning, but once I began teaching, the time fills up and there’s never the same constant focus as there was during that year of certification. As a lifelong learner by nature, I am incredibly excited to just continue that growth that I crave when I see this blast from the past when I head to the #PMA conference next week. Thanks to client Lorraine for the demo🙏 In order shown: . 1️⃣Basic Straddle2️⃣Basic Straddle with dumbbell3️⃣Straddle with PPT4️⃣Straddle RDL with PPT5️⃣Straddle with Band6️⃣Straddle RDL with band . 🔑𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲? Simply put, how and where load is distributed, thereby affecting levels of muscle activation. The RDL’s bias more hamstrings. The straddle is more of a ‘hybrid’ move and will bias more quads, as well as more glutes in the bottom position. Both variations hit glutes at the top in their shortened position, more-so with a posteriorly tilted pelvis (PPT - cock-up) at the end. Even more when some horizontal band load is added in. . 🔑𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁? When first learning the moves start with the basics - straddles 1️⃣&2️⃣and straddle RDL’s (not shown). Then learn how to incorporate some cock-up action in them 3️⃣&4️⃣. Then add some horizontal band resistance on top of the cock-up action5️⃣&6️⃣. . There are no rules to say you HAVE to do things like this, but with the majority of my clients and their goals this method of progression works 99.9999999999% of the time. You can also chop and change between different ones to vary the training stimulus. 𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝗴𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗰𝗸-𝘂𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝘁! Capped off max effort lower today with this nice little finisher. Ladder belt squat good mornings at 3 different positions (wide, shoulder width, and heels touching). Work your way in and then back out, it's pretty straight forward. The full set took about two minutes ☠️ If you want to make it even more fun, hold a medicine ball! These absolutely blasted by hamstrings, glutes, and low back. Ended up doing two sets and I still feel it! Give it a shot and see what you think! 💪

New PB for me again at 110kg at my first attempt, very surprised to hit this weight with 6 solid reps at this stage but I couldn’t be happier. Having the proper shoes and belt really helps with heavy squats. When you reach your hips back to the wall make sure you feel a stretch. If you don’t have that stretch it could be you’re bending your knees! The surplus in my caloric intake has been giving me so much energy to keep going. ❥ The past couple weeks I’ve been getting into practicing sumo deadlifts, I’ve been slowly upping my weight each week with the since it’s a new exercise that I’m not used to and I don’t want to risk pulling anything and doing them improperly just to get my weight on the barbell up. Slow and steady is sooooo important. Some pause squat from this morning. . The big focus was keeping the quads engaged during the pause and just contracting them hard to stand up. . It can be hard to not want to drop and get a bounce after the pause, but you have to fight it. . These were zig-zagged with leg press and leg curls. . Followed this with upper body pump work. . Currently in the gym 4 times per week, training each muscle group 3 times per week 😰 . Following the #fortitudetraining program. It is no joke! . . . . . . #revamptrainingsystems
