*BABY ONE-LEGGED PRESS HANDSTAND* . . #angelasyogatutorials . . This is to break yourself of the habit of kicking into handstand and teaches you how to use your abs instead of momentum. 🙌😊 (To be clear momentum can also be good, but it is nice to have a variety of ways to enter the pose!) * . . 🙋Warm up your wrists before doing this! . . . . 🙌Place your bolster against the wall and a chair facing in towards the bolster. Consider placing something heavy on the chair to ensure that it won't move like a heavy book or books ect. Line your fingertips up in line with the edge of the bolster. . . 🙌Press into your palms and spread your shoulder blades wide apart. Hollow out through your front body and squeeze your triceps in towards the midline to straighten your arms completely. Press your entire back body against the bolster not just your head. Take and inhale and as you exhale press your back ribs into the bolster as you bring your front ribs in. . . 🙌Place one foot on the back of the chair. Reach the other leg straight up and parallel to the wall. Flex or point your toes and extend energy through the foot. Engage your legs fully by squeezing your quads and lifting your kneecaps. . . . 🙌Imagine you have a nerf ball between your inner thighs that you are squeezing and holding onto. Do not let go. You should feel the tops of your inner thighs scissoring and pulling in towards one another. . . . 🙌Try to create an L-shape with your body and hold it without allowing the top leg to touch the wall. [FIRST TO SECOND HEAD POSITION]: Make more space for your Trapezius 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ . The most common question in Handstand training: . “Where should my gaze be in a Handstand?” . Well, like all things Handstand...what’s your why? If it’s a cleaner aesthetic then I recommend tucking the head through the arms into 2nd Position, making a little more space on your neck, and then pressing up through that space to get taller. . Is this version harder than looking at the ground?? Yes, until you train it. Then it becomes just another position you have in your arsenal 👊🤸‍♂️🤗 . Finally, I love love love drills that involve shifting the gaze, not to mention the 8-11lbs of your head, because they reinforce SHOULDER STABILITY in order to maintain balance 🤔🤔🤔 . If you have a freestanding Handstand line, challenge yourself by taking your gaze through your hands and put your ears next to the muscle tissue that makes up your biceps/shoulders (depending on proportions). . I go through periods in life where all I want is to soak up new ideas and new perspectives from other people in attempts to understand myself, culture, science (all types), spirituality, etc more. One of my favorite things to do is read a book that changes my perspective on something significant in my life. I used to be SO afraid of that... that somehow if I heard the wrong idea it would alter my current beliefs. If I had a piece of advice for people, it would be.. that no matter what your current state of belief is, don’t be afraid to explore. Don’t be so sure about one way if thinking that you’re afraid to even hear about another. Don’t be so convinced you know the truth about life, because there is so much unknown in this universe we live in, and so much to be taken from hearing all sides and all ideas. I’m currently reading a book called “Sapiens” by Yuval Noah Harari, and it’s absolutely amazing how much it’s challenging my thought process and opening up my mind to new ways of thinking about our humanity. It’s quite beautiful, really! I’d love any other recommendations for books that have done the same for you! • Wearing @aloyoga

This is the complete opposite of beach inversions, but both seem to end in me falling 🤔 - This actually may be the most difficult environment I have practiced in yet. It was cold and windy, causing my eyes to water and that made my vision distorted and teary and took all of my focus. So much so that my body just went into inversion auto pilot, flowed through some basic moves and then fell over 😆 But I mean Check out that view!! -20 weather won’t stop me so I don’t want to hear any excuses, get up side down and practice today 💪🤸🏻‍♀️

Decided to practice some wall walks to get by body used to being upside down, so eventually I’ll be able to do handstands and handstand walks. Lol unfortunately i did a Tabata workout right before that had me completely dead haha legs and upper body 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ so here’s two attempts, the 2nd one is just sad lol my legs were sooooo heavy it felt like. . . WOD : Tabata (8 rounds : 20 sec on, 10 sec rest) Row Calories Air Squats Pull Ups Push Ups Ab Mat Sit Ups Rest 1 min in between exercises
