Ingredients:

10 Minute Meal Lunch Idea! Couscous and vegetable dish: Ingredients: Couscous (dry) Frozen peas (1 cup) Roasted capsicum x 2 Cherry tomatoes (handful) 150g per person of protein (Prawns used in picture) Whatever else you'd like to add Method: 1. Boil the water. 2. Then heat a non-stick frying pan. 3. Choose whatever cooked protein you like and add it to the pan to heat up and brown. 4. Pour in however much couscous you'd like to eat and add the water level with the couscous and cover until you need to serve. 5. Add the remaining boiling water to the frozen peas to defrost them. 6. Cut up any vegetables you have or like, after about 5 minutes the couscous will be cooked. 7. Add everything into the bowl and top with your protein of choice! Do any of these sound like you? Avoiding hunger by trying to do something else. Eating air food like popcorn or rice cakes to try to fill up on the least calories Drinking diet pop or coffee to try to make hunger go away Feeling guilty if you’re hungry Or really anything else that makes you not eat when your body is telling you to EAT. It’s not wrong to drink or eat these things if you actually like them. But when you’re trying to avoid hunger, that’s a different story. What if, instead of fearing or feeling guilty about being hunger you chose to look at it as your body being ALIVE! Your body WORKING and doing what God designed it to do! Or maybe, just maybe, you could view hunger as a chance to give your body the energy it needs through food instead of looking at feeding yourself as a bad thing. Why a restrictive diet doesn’t work? You may see results in the first few days, but sooner or later, no matter what, cutting off food groups will lead to binge eating and you will end up eating more food than you need of all the “forbidden” food. I believe that skipping the shortcuts and taking the long way, by working on your relationship with food, creates long term results and ultimately healthier health habits. Intermittent fasting and cutting my portion sizes worked for me because I was no longer torturing myself my cutting out everything diet culture said was “bad”. After doing a lot more research, it turns out what diet culture said was “bad” and what was “good” wasn’t necessarily correct. I’ve done a lot of correcting my relationship with food and fitness, but there is always room or growth! All you need is: Corn masa Water Lime Parchment paper Heavy plates/pans for flattening Cast iron skillet It's quicker than you think, inexpensive, and lacks the additives of store-bought tortillas. And trust me; once you've tasted a homemade tortilla, you will never go back. Corn masa can also be combined 75/25 with almond flour for a unique flavor and increased fats and protein! I will sometimes use whole wheat flour, but not for my gluten-free friends 😊

For me, as it is for many, bread had previously been a "fear food"; in the eating disorder (ED) community, this means it triggered damaging thoughts and behaviors. When I took bread making into my own hands (literally), I began to experience it in a different way; it became a gift to share with friends and a product of which I could be proud. Now that I am a dietitian, I hope to fight the notion that bread and carbohydrates are "unhealthy" and to be avoided at all costs.
