Are you eating “ENOUGH”? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When people talk about portion control, moderation, counting macros—all of that—what they’re really talking about is this idea that calories matter. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔻In order to lose fat, you must eat less calories than you burn (aka create a “calorie deficit”). Any eating strategy that works for fat loss, does so because it creates a consistent calorie deficit.🔺 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The thing is, sometimes we take this seemingly simple idea that “I just need to eat less and move more” a little too far, and the results aren't quite what we expect. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you’re obsessing over calories, being highly restrictive, and doing hours of cardio, you may find that—besides hating life—you’re not getting the results you’re looking for. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ That’s because despite your efforts to slim down, your body is hard-wired to fight for survival. So if you’re consuming far less than what you’re asking your body to burn, then your body is going to find a way to just burn less to compensate. Yes, it can do that. Your body is pretty resourceful, and it just wants to ensure you’ll live another day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The other challenge with overdoing it is burnout. We restrict excessively, thennnn fall way off the rails. There’s little consistency on this path — and I hear consistency is key (I agree!!).👌🏻 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ideally what we’re shooting for is the sweet spot of “enough.” Eating not too much, but not too little, either. Moving more, but not excessively. This approach of “enough” not only helps us to achieve the results we’re looking for over time, but it’s also much more sustainable. 😎 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ll be diving more into figuring out “enough” with future posts — but feel free to ask your questions below!
