#MobilityMonday -- OPEN UP THOSE HIPS 🕺🏼 . Each Monday, I’ll be sharing a move that you can and SHOULD implement in your routine to help you become a more mobile, stronger lifter 💪🏼 . So what’s the move this week? Tall Plank Alternating Pigeons 🐦 . If you’re having trouble getting to depth in your squats, you NEED to give this one a try 👏🏼 . When you squat, your hips aren’t just moving up and down. There’s also a little bit of ROTATION that needs to happen for you to perform the movement effectively -- and this stretch will help you work on that! . Increase your hip mobility like this 👇🏼 . ✳️ Starting in a tall plank position, bring your left leg forward with your knee bent at about a 90 degree angle. . ✳️ Let your hips sink down while maintaining upright posture by pressing your hands down into the ground. Your hips should be SQUARE with your shoulders! Hold for 3-5 breaths. . ✳️ To increase the intensity, lean forward as far as you can until you really feel a stretch in your hip -- specifically your PIRIFORMIS (the muscle that helps your leg rotate inward and outward). Hold for 3-5 breaths. . ✳️ Bring your leg back through and end in the tall plank starting position. . ✳️ Repeat on the opposite side and complete ~3 sets total per side. . I use this move before EVERY SINGLE ONE of my workouts to really stretch out my hips and prepare them for squats and MAN has it made a difference ✌🏼 Never underestimate the power of a good priming movement! . Pra quem não sabe, sou alta (tenho 1,71 m de altura), o que acaba trazendo vantagem e desvantagem em alguns pontos (da mesma forma que uma pessoa mais baixa também tem vantagens e desvantagens, cada um tem um desafio). Meu quadriceps, para parecer tão volumoso quanto o de uma moça de até 1,60 m, tem que ser muito mais trabalhado. Somado a outros desafios como a condropatia patelar, esses benditos quads tiram meu sono. Mas faço o meu. Constantemente com os pilates: treino, dieta e descanso.
