. . . . #lamiasanfrancisco #alwayssanfrancisco #alwayssf #culturetrip #passionpassport #beautifuldestinations #mytinyatlas #nowrongwaysf #igerssf #streetsofsf  #theprettycities #sanfranciscobayarea #sfbay #sfstreetphotography #sanfrancitizens #howsfseessf #sflove #storiedisanfrancisco #barbarylane @thearmisteadmaupin #armisteadmaupin @itsmelauralinney #talesofthecity #magicalplaces #enchantedplaces #viaggiletterari #literarytourism #literarytravels #bookishplaces #russianhill

The Road to Grantchester by James Runcie is quite different than other Granchester novels. No mysteries. Glimpse of Detective Sidney w/ his friend Freddie. Freddie has some of my favorite lines: ‘My definition of eternity is the time the bus takes to get from the railway station to my aunt’s house in Lacock. That’s a disappointment, let me tell you. No lays and precious few cocks.’🤣 ‘Oh, my giddy aunt and bloody God,' ‘People use the word “busy” to cover all manner of selfishness.’ 📺 & 📚 Sidney go their separate ways later in the series, this will appeal to Fans of both. Sidney becoming Sidney in War, Peace, Faith, & Love. All the moments that make him the man he is. I did struggle a bit with War section but that's just me. I don't like to read of horrors of War. Peace, Faith and Love were quite delightful. Insight into a beloved character. "it really is a bit like becoming a gardener, waiting for things to develop and grow, letting everything take its own time. He doesn’t want to preach on the subject of his parishioners as plants and seedlings (or some of the more matronly members of the congregation being blowsy old roses), but he considers the natural rhythms of the year, of moving at a slower pace;" 💙💙💙💙💙 #roadtograntchester #jamesruncie #bookreview #literarytravels #sidneychambers #gardenquotes #booksvstv #whatimreading #bookstagram http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/43217693-the-road-to-grantchester

Blustery day when I made it to the Wall of Books at Kansas City Central Library. My Jane Austen scarf kept slapping me in the face. filmed some videos at Journey’s End: 210 Riverside Drive where LM Montgomery ended her life. She lived in the West End of Toronto from 1935-1942 and wrote Jane of Lantern Hill, Anne of Ingleside and Anne of Windy Poplars here ( the latter two completely capitalizing on the success of the series she was tired of to get money) It was the first house she owned. Detectives named Ian. I always end up wanting to give them a hug and make them a cup of tea. Good solid mystery. City of Edinburgh comes across as more a character than just a setting. Has me longing to go back. As for that Goodreads review about sex and violence; 'Bosh and Bumkum' as Ian's boss DCI Crawford would say. He's another interesting character. It's a murder mystery, so yes there is a bit of violence. Nothing so graphic, that it bothered me to read it before bed. As for sex? Barely any and mostly implied. Ian's a smart, likeable yet flawed character. I'm definitely going to read next in series. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/35565516-edinburgh-twilight #bookreview #imho #rebelreader #edinburghtwilight #carolelawrence #literarytravels #scotland #royalmile #edinburghcastle #bookstagram

"Like many great cities, Edinburgh had a variety of moods. It could be warm and welcoming, in the boisterous, dangerous way of Scottish cities, sly and beckoning as a sloe- eyed whore, or grim and foreboding. Tonight there was a feeling of expectation in the air, which had turned blustery and cold. A winter storm was brewing in the eastern sky, and as they walked, the wind from the Firth of Forth blew in gusts, curling around the stone buildings like a cat in search of a soft place to rest." Loving descriptions in Edinburgh Twilight by Carole Lawrence. Only had a day there. Since Himself had graciously followed me about Jane Austen's England, he got to pick in Edinburgh. Spent the day at Edinburgh Castle and Walking Royal Mile. Would love to go back and settle in for a long visit. So much to see. 😍 #whatimreadingnow #edinburghtwilight #carolelawrence #literarytravels #scotland #bookquote #bookstagram

One of my favorite memories of Ireland: Himself - "Which Guide Book did you find this in? Lonely Planet?" Me - "Nora Roberts - Born in Fire". Loop Head is about 50 miles from the more touristy Cliffs of Moher. It's where River Shannon flows in to the Atlantic. Maybe 6 people there that day. No fences or guard rails. Just a stunning view. ☘💚🍀💚☘ #thingsyoulearninbooks #loophead #cliffwalk #literarytravels #bookstagram

Avevo vent'anni. #augustrenoir 👨‍🎨 * 3) Sylvia Beach, Shakespeare and Company, di Neri Pozza. #lostgeneration 💃 * 5)E naturalmente, l'immancabile Lonely Planet, compagna di avventure e sventure fin dall'inizio. #backpackers 🌏 * Bon voyage ! #librinvaligia #parigi #booksonabench #travelbooks #literarytravels #literatueefrancaise #books #lovereading #lovetravelling #paris #consiglidilettura #letturediviaggio #fiestamobile #readytogo #bookstagram #libribelli #leggieparti

“...let it be remembered that most men live in a world of their own, and that in that limited circle alone are they ambitious for distinction and applause. Sir Mulberry's world was peopled with profligates, and he acted accordingly. Thus, cases of injustice, and oppression, and tyranny, and the most extravagant bigotry, are in constant occurrence among us every day. It is the custom to trumpet forth much wonder and astonishment at the chief actors therein setting at defiance so completely the opinion of the world. But there is no greater fallacy; it is precisely because they do consult the opinion of their own little world that such things take place at all, and strike the great world dumb with amazement.“ . My second and most favourite Dickens novel so far. I always love reading stories of the duality of mankind. . How good can one be under extreme odds and difficulties? How far can evil debase oneself with your own flesh and blood? . Nicholas Nickleby is a story of a small family who have gone through a change of fortunes after their well-meaning, but naive fathers death. They seek out their mercenary uncles protection and advice. Troubles ensue and we learn how actions have consequences and that above all kindness, hard work and integrity above all make the difference. . . 📚 swipe right for photos of when I visited the Charles Dickens museum in London. I was half expecting a man on a horse thunder around the corner yelling for his dog pilot! 🐶 . . It was great exploring the Yorkshire Moors, by way of the Haworth to Bronte walk! Just admiring the beautiful rugged landscape, avoiding mud puddles, doggy waste bags (people think they’ve hidden) and enjoying the peaceful near silence of the moors. . . February in Haworth isn’t a total waste of time. But if your planning on coming, WAIT till mid February. I was hoping to make use of my annual ticket, but unfortunately the @bronteparsonagemuseum and local independant bookstore are closed ALL month! Luckily the parsonage gift shop was open. Yes!!! 😍 There are still some cute and interesting things to see in Haworth and surrounds in winter. . . . . #haworth #brontecountry #janeeyre #bronteparsonage #yorkshiremoors #haworthtobrontewaterfallwalk #visityorkshire #victorianliterature #bookish #bookishtravel #travelgram #aussiesabroad #booklover #bookworm #igtravel #literarytravels

Does anyone else dream of trips to the seaside during winter? 🍦🦀⛵️ . Lyme Regis was the cutest little seaside town with lots of literary interest. Yes, I was one of those fools enjoying the ‘brisk english breeze’ while strolling along the Cobb. . This little paperback has transversed many oceans, countries and continents (twice), and is getting a little shabby. But I love it all the more! .
