Love for this literary city 📚 • I never stop appreciating the fact that I get to live in the "birth place of literature". What an incredible opportunity it is to be surrounded by books and those who have and do love them. ✨ • If you haven't seen it or aren't subscribed (yet), I put up a brand new video on my YouTube channel today! On this one I go through the reading list for the first semester of my upcoming year at university, which I couldn't be more excited for! 🤓Check out the link to my blog in my bio in order to catch the video and catch up on my latest posts (which are mainly book reviews)! • I also just wanted to thank everyone who sent me such lovely messages after the bad news I received yesterday. I'm still grieving but am definitely feeling a lot better after that. ❤️ What a beautiful community this space is.

“...let it be remembered that most men live in a world of their own, and that in that limited circle alone are they ambitious for distinction and applause. Sir Mulberry's world was peopled with profligates, and he acted accordingly. Thus, cases of injustice, and oppression, and tyranny, and the most extravagant bigotry, are in constant occurrence among us every day. It is the custom to trumpet forth much wonder and astonishment at the chief actors therein setting at defiance so completely the opinion of the world. But there is no greater fallacy; it is precisely because they do consult the opinion of their own little world that such things take place at all, and strike the great world dumb with amazement.“ . My second and most favourite Dickens novel so far. I always love reading stories of the duality of mankind. . How good can one be under extreme odds and difficulties? How far can evil debase oneself with your own flesh and blood? . Nicholas Nickleby is a story of a small family who have gone through a change of fortunes after their well-meaning, but naive fathers death. They seek out their mercenary uncles protection and advice. Troubles ensue and we learn how actions have consequences and that above all kindness, hard work and integrity above all make the difference. . . 📚 swipe right for photos of when I visited the Charles Dickens museum in London. The house he lived when he wrote Oliver Twist, David Copperfield and Nicholas Nickleby! . . . #nicholasnickleby #charlesdickens #travelgram #literarytravels #readingtheclassics #classics #bibliophile #booklover #bookworm #igtravel #igreads #currentlyreading #family #integrity #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #visitlondon #secondhandbooks #booksbooksbooks #rainydayreading

Woke up to the first snow today, and am nostalgic yet again! Perhaps my favorite snowy destination is "Dracula's Castle" in Romania, which is believed to have served as an inspiration for the novel. Visiting it in the heart of winter gave it that spooky/beautiful appeal that I had envisioned in my mind for so long 💙 this literary destination is a must! . . . . . . . #literarytravels #visitromania #romania #exploreromania #transylvania #dracula #draculascastle #travelblogger #wanderlust #globetrotter #travellersunite #backpacktheworld #backpacker #travelphotography #travelphoto #travelblog #worldtravel #worldtravelpics #shewanders #shetravels #instatravel #instapassport #passportpassion #traveleurope #easterneurope #offthebeatenpath #adventure #bucketlist #backpacktheworld #solotravel

With no summer travel officially on the books, I’ll have to make to do with travel in books. I grabbed this on a whim but I’ve been having a tough time getting drawn into the world of Arthur Less. There are sections that grab me and sections that lose me. In all fairness, following Little Fires Everywhere would be a lot to ask of any book. I’m about halfway through, so I’ll withhold my judgement until the end. Happy Summer! #less #literarytravels #bookstagram

I was half expecting a man on a horse thunder around the corner yelling for his dog pilot! 🐶 . . It was great exploring the Yorkshire Moors, by way of the Haworth to Bronte walk! Just admiring the beautiful rugged landscape, avoiding mud puddles, doggy waste bags (people think they’ve hidden) and enjoying the peaceful near silence of the moors. . . February in Haworth isn’t a total waste of time. But if your planning on coming, WAIT till mid February. I was hoping to make use of my annual ticket, but unfortunately the @bronteparsonagemuseum and local independant bookstore are closed ALL month! Luckily the parsonage gift shop was open. Yes!!! 😍 There are still some cute and interesting things to see in Haworth and surrounds in winter. . . . . #haworth #brontecountry #janeeyre #bronteparsonage #yorkshiremoors #haworthtobrontewaterfallwalk #visityorkshire #victorianliterature #bookish #bookishtravel #travelgram #aussiesabroad #booklover #bookworm #igtravel #literarytravels

A little more France to add to the pile - While it isn't exactly what I expected (mostly recipes), it was lovely to savor a bit more of Peter Mayle's writing that I hadn't discovered yet. I so miss him and his beautiful stories of Provençal life! 🇫🇷📚 #LiteraryTravels #France #instabooks #bookstagram #foodwriting #PeterMayle

Does anyone else dream of trips to the seaside during winter? 🍦🦀⛵️ . Lyme Regis was the cutest little seaside town with lots of literary interest. Yes, I was one of those fools enjoying the ‘brisk english breeze’ while strolling along the Cobb. . This little paperback has transversed many oceans, countries and continents (twice), and is getting a little shabby. But I love it all the more! . Special photo of stone steps that are supposed to have inspired Louisa Musgrove’s fall in my favourite Jane Austen novel. And a lodging house, Jane Austen is expected to have stayed when she wrote Persuasion. . . . #janeausten #persuasion #lymeregis #jurassiccoast #visitdevon #austenite #paperbacks #vintageclassics #literarytravels #travellingbookworm #thecobb #seaside #sandsunsea #bookish #booklover #igtravels #travelgram #aussiesabroad #takemeback

Happy (belated) Birthday to Jane Austen. I picked up this beautiful copy of the book when in NYC at Shakespeare & Co. I love picking up books at souvenirs when traveling - they are practical and hold the memory of the vacation.

keniasedler. The last stop of our tour was York! This adorably small, medieval town

The last stop of our tour was York! This adorably small, medieval town is so much fun to explore. • Beginning our walk along Stonegate, which used to be the road that was lined with all the book shops and printers, we spotted the Minerva carving (Roman goddess of wisdom and drama) with her stack of books. At the time, she was placed there to mark the book shop on that corner. (It is no longer a book shop, but there is now one just across the street from her...which of course I visited and made a purchase!) 📚 • Also on Stonegate, we ran into an old Printer’s Devil carving that used to mark the printer’s workshop location. The printer’s apprentices were called Printers’s Devils because one of their tasks was to handle the Hellbox, the container where all the hot, metal typesetting was thrown into after printing. 👹 • We walked along the famous Shambles in the evening, which also claims to have influenced Diagon Alley from Harry Potter (although I think most of the influence was really from Edinburgh’s Victoria Street). Along the way we found The Shop That Must Not Be Named! ⚡️ • #YorkUK #printersDevil #Minerva #TheShambles #literaryTravel #literaryTravels #bookLife #readingLife #literaryLifestyle #bookishLife #readersOfInstagram #literary #iLoveBooks #bibliophile #bookish #bookworm #bookNerd #bookLover

Edinburgh books and eminent thinkers! (Post 3 of 3) 📚 🤔 💭 • There are several great bookstores in Edinburgh (can’t you see how excited I am??). I popped into 3 of them, including the pictured Armchair Books which is just a wonderful book labyrinth full of tight corridors and tall stacks. 📚 • David Hume, the philosopher (prominent work: “A Treatise Of Human Nature”) has a featured statue along the Royal Mile. His right toes are worn bronze, so I figured I’d also rub them for “good luck” (I think he is rolling around in his grave if people do it with a real belief in luck, 😂) • Adam Smith, the economist (prominent work: “The Wealth of Nations”) also has a statue along the Royal Mile (the pose for which I’m attempting to mimic 😁). But not only that: he’s buried at Canongate Kirkyard which is just off the Royal Mile, so we stopped in for a visit. • Finally, we were walking along and randomly spotted a memorial tablet dedicated to Sir Walter Scott, the novelist & poet (prominent work: “The Lady of The Lake”). • #Edinburgh #RoyalMile #ArmchairBooksEdinburgh #DavidHume #AdamSmith #SirWalterScott #literaryTravel #literaryTravels #bookLife #readingLife #literaryLifestyle #bookishLife #readersOfInstagram #literary #iLoveBooks #bibliophile #bookish #bookworm #bookNerd #bookLover

Edinburgh pubs! (Post 2 of 3) This city has a lot of great pubs. Here are a couple of literary-themed ones that we visited. • Badger & Co. is based on the children’s classic The Wind In The Willows. It is a very adorably chic New Town pub and restaurant. • The Frankenstein pub in Old Town is really neat too! Frankenstein is actually one of my all-time favorite novels. This place has a Frankenstein show where the monster comes out for a bit, and the atmosphere is punctuated with a couple of screens showing the original black & white Frankenstein movie! 🧟‍♂️ • #Edinburgh #FrankensteinPub #BadgerPub #Frankenstein #TheWindInTheWillows #literaryTravel #literaryTravels #bookLife #readingLife #literaryLifestyle #bookishLife #readersOfInstagram #literary #iLoveBooks #bibliophile #bookish #bookworm #bookNerd #bookLover

Edinburgh! (Post 1 of 3) I was so excited to visit this city for several reasons—one of which is that this is where JK Rowling wrote Harry Potter! ⚡️👓 • So, of course, I located JK Rowlings hand prints. 🤗 • Our AirBnB was steps away from Victoria Street, the inspiration for Diagon Alley. It even has a joke shop (Gambol and Japes! 🤮) and an antiques shop (Borgin & Burkes! 🗝)! • I found The Boy Wizard shop. ⚡️ • And, finally, I found Tom Riddle’s grave in Greyfriars Kirkyard cemetery (zoom in to see the name). 💀 Every year, on Hallow’s Eve at midnight, Tom Riddle’s resting place is surrounded by Harry Potter fans engaging in wizard duels in honor of He Who Must Not Be Named (...because hardcore Harry Potter fans are crazy). Supposedly, JK Rowling spent a lot of time walking through this graveyard, and that is how she came across this grave. • #Edinburgh #HarryPotter #JKRowling #TomRiddleGrave #VictoriaStreet #HarryPotterEdinburgh #literaryTravel #literaryTravels #bookLife #readingLife #literaryLifestyle #bookishLife #readersOfInstagram #literary #iLoveBooks #bibliophile #bookish #bookworm #bookNerd #bookLover

Dublin (post 2 of 2): Trinity Library!!! 📚📚📚 😆 (SOOO excited as we approached the entrance!!) I was so in awe of being surrounded by so many old books in such a beautifully designed library...that I immediately felt jealous of all the scholars who actually get to go through them and study them. *sigh* Maybe in another life... • It’s also lined with the busts of many prominent thinkers (alas, only of dead, white, European men...c’est la vie), and I couldn’t help but stop to think deep thoughts next to Plato...🤣 • #Dublin #TrinityLibrary #Ireland #oldBooks #libraries #librariesOfInstagram #historicLibraries #literaryTravel #literaryTravels #bookLife #readingLife #literaryLifestyle #bookishLife #readersOfInstagram #literary #iLoveBooks #bibliophile #bookish #bookworm #bookNerd #bookLover

Dublin (post 1 of 2). This was the second stop on our trip. Ireland has produced so many astounding writers, including one of my favorites: Oscar Wilde. So I was very excited for this one!! • I of course made it to the Dublin Writer’s Museum, which was a fascinating display where I got to lay eyes on a 1st edition copy of Bram Stoker’s Dracula! 🧛‍♂️ • I was also pleasantly surprised to find that our AirBnB was decorated with Oscar Wilde quotes! I mean, what a coincidence! • We visited St. Patrick’s park, where they have what’s called the Literary Parade alongside one wall, with plaques dedicated to several famous and award-winning Irish writers. • Even the pubs have their odes to Irish writers: we found one with various water color portraits, including my man Mr. Wilde! • Finally, I had to go visit my Friend in Merrion Square, where I found he was sporting a very fine hat as part of a city-wide art effort that had a fashion artist design hats for various statues around the city! 🏳️‍🌈 • #Dublin #OscarWilde #DublinWritersMuseum #StPatricksPark #LiteraryParade #MerrionSquare #LGBTQwriters #Ireland #IrishWriters #literaryTravel #literaryTravels #bookLife #readingLife #literaryLifestyle #bookishLife #readersOfInstagram #literary #iLoveBooks #bibliophile #bookish #bookworm #bookNerd #bookLover
