YOU The person you were at birth, the person before any tough situations, before pain, before other people's words, other people's ideas, other people's pregedists, before other people's feelings, emotions came into your home, if your needs weren't met self love can feel alien & like you don't deserve it, but you do . 💔ALL of the above can change our ideas, can have us not speaking kindly to ourselves, when we don't understand why people are like that with us we take things personally, we take their pain with us, but it's not ours to keep, we learn ways to survive because were too young to understand situations & very often as a child have no choice but to find a way to survive a situation, we end up taking these patterns with us, we needed then then but not now. It helped then but it's not now. . BRINGING YOURSELF HOME . 🤦‍♂️Take yourself back to your youngest self, write a letter as that young human, how you felt, your true feelings from back then, let it all out, it can bring you sadness, even anger (be safe & kind to yourself still) that's ok, maybe yourself needed a vent & didn't have the opportunity to do that, you can now, you're allowed. . THEN 👨‍👧Write your youngest self a letter, as the adult, remember you, the innocent you that tried to navigate tough times and speak to them with such love, kindness with understanding and compassion. They need it. You can build the bridge between the two, you can speak to them, explain as an adult what you understand of those situations now, that You are here for them now & forever more. A friend of mine asked me the other day.. "why haven't you posted about anything mental health related recently?".. the honest answer.. I thought things we're going quite well.. I was enjoying my London life, I felt like myself self esteem was in a pretty good place, and I'd found an amazing partner who just lights up every aspect of my life.. but in the last couple weeks.. not so great... I'm back in my head a lot of the time, my insecurities about always wanting people to like me are seeping into my daily life and I'm always thinking about my physique.. how I'm always injured and how my body used to be stronger and more athletic (and then not doing a hell of a lot about it)... What the hell happened!? Turns out the answer was quite easy to identify once I actually took 5minutes to take a step back and think about it.. Time... You forget that your mental health is exactly the same as your physical health. If you don't give it the time it needs and deserves to stay healthy, then it will deteriorate. When things are going great, you sometimes forget that your mental health isn't a linear line. You somehow convince yourself that once you've gotten to a certain point, you don't need to give it as much attention.. you're stronger now, why continue to give your mental health all that attention? But realistically, that's just never the case.. It's ok to not be ok, we all have those days/weeks/months.. but if you give your mental health the time to heal, in whatever capacity, it will help you see things more clearly. Those months become weeks and weeks become days and you do become so much better at managing those ups and downs. I don't know about you guys but I love talking and writing about my thoughts. It just really helps me see more clearly and better understand the reasons why I am feeling the way I am. Annnyyywhhhooo, this is just me talking and writing about my mental health. I genuinely feel better already (I felt the photo was more representative of my temp state of mind than the always smiling photos I put up on here haha). #keepsmiling #time #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealth #communicationiskey #friends #family #supportnetwork #staypositive

What’s your outlet? What sets you free? For years I have battled anxiety and depression to the point where I don’t want to leave my bed or i can’t stop my body from shaking. I’ve always found my outlet to be exercise.. it’s like a good drug. Sure, it’s addictive, but I wouldn’t be where I am today and I wouldn’t be who I am today without exercise. The biggest relief is when I leave the gym or when I finish the cool down to a hard workout. It’s my release, it’s where I find peace. It’s what I need. . . So what’s your outlet? Idk about you guys but my brain and thoughts can be a real Mc ***hole.... . How can you stop the ever evolving cycle of negative self talk? . 1. Change your brain waves, for 10 min practice a breathing sequence in/out for 6-3-9 seconds on repeat. 2. When the negative thoughts come in, say they aren’t true until you believe it. 3. Visualize the image you see shrinking until it disappears. 4. Visualize positive imagines instead, the brain doesn’t know what’s real or imaginary. 5. Change your thinking pattern by adding a new routine to your thought process: daily reflection, affirmation or meditation. . Incorporating one of these will surely help you. It’s really just taking the leap of faith to believe that something so simple (mentioned above) could actually help reframe your mindset. . Take some action. .
