Day-after-Great-Big-Effort-Runs serve two purposes. 1. The streak. 2. Injury check! There’s sore and there’s pain. Sore is from usage, pain is from injury. My legs are stiff and warm up with movement. My toes were in pain - blisters, hot spots, and softened nails; but after a night’s sleep and this run, they’ve been downgraded from pain to very sore. PS - any time you put in Great Big Effort and come out without injury is a win. Please never overlook that. It only takes a mud puddle slip or tiny misstep to knock us out of the running game. If you’re going fast or far there’s a larger window for those. I know it’s not Friday but today was Biceps!! Struggled a bit today on my left side, feels like somethings out place, so I had to really push to keep up the weight on that side!! Final day of the year means final mile of the year. Since January 1st, I have been running a #mileaday, everyday. The Rocky steps, the Miracle Mile, the Brooklyn Bridge, Buckingham Palace, Rocky Mountains, Central America, San Francisco, Malibu, airports and on and on. Mile after mile. With friends and family but mostly solo. Some were quick. Many more were slow. Day 18 mile a day ruck for Feb. Up to 57lbs. I add 10 more on Friday to finish the month. Rucking every day is easy. Constant positivity is hard. I got one negative thought in my head this morning. Dreaded work and then hated it all day. I was producing but did not get enough done. It's hard to flip the switch back to everything is wonderful. It takes practice to stay positive. It also takes practice to not even have a negative thought in the first place. Day 46 was a full one! It started with a really great lesson that has me super excited for this show season. I'm really pleased with how the work I'm putting in is translating to the saddle. I cannot wait to see where we will be in 3 months! Next was off to the pool with the girls to burn off some much needed energy. Finally home to do my official mile and workout. I slept horribly last night for the first time in a very long time so I'm hoping tonight goes much better. Soooo, first of all my phone went dead and for some freaking reason my watch, which is supposed to have it's own network, did not track my mile. It did however track my time and the dismal amount of calories I burned. Luckily, I've previously measured what a mile was at my job, so I know I completed one. Secondly, um do not give blood and then later that day try to run. All in all today was good! I've completed 49 days of at least a mile, and it is day 9 of 1/2 marathon training and I got it done.
