‼️Sometimes stretching isn’t the answer‼️ . 😖That tight feeling may actually be a 🧠neurological response to loading in a position that is not optimal. . 💀Anatomical (optimal) shoulder position for overhead pressing is actually ~20 degrees forwards from the horizontal vs 180 degrees straight out to the side. . 😖Excess loading in non-optimal position can cause irritation of a number of structures, leading to your nervous system essentially putting on the brakes, and BINGO! Shoulder feels tight! . Why? NOT because the tissues aren’t lengthening enough‼️Your body is trying to prevent a harmful position or movement‼️ . 👉🏻In this case, stretching your shoulder out isn’t gonna do much by means of recovery. Best case scenario if feels a little better at rest, but won’t sort out your problem. In some cases, it may actually further aggravate the issue. . How do you know what route to take to recovery? . GET IT ASSESSED BY A PROFESSIONAL BEFORE YOU START TRYING RANDOM THERAPIES AND HOPING IT WORKS‼️ . 👉🏻In this case, we’re using acu to calm down some areas of compensation to restore proper joint movement, then slowing down the pressing, and stepping back from weight and power training to focus on good body mechanics so we can stay active while we heal🤙🏻 . My daughter asks me a lot if she’s perfect. It makes me internally freak out. The easy answer would be to say yes but I don’t. In my experience, for what it’s worth, is anytime I have focused on trying to be perfect, all I could see was my flaws and failures. For years. Too many years. I really feel like I have proudly grown out of this quest though. I don’t try and be perfect, I just try and do better. One step at a time, one day at a time, just grow. When we can focus on improving ourselves rather then trying to be perfect, it’s literally the most freeing feeling in the world. There is no one out there in the universe who is perfect, so why are we burning ourselves out trying to be? Just grow. Learn from your mistakes and teach your kids we all make them. When my daughter asks me that question, I always tell her, “no honey, no one is perfect. We need to make mistakes in order to grow and be better.” It’s not the answer she likes, but I hope in time she understands that flaws are beautiful and mistakes are ok as long as we learn from them. Authenticity to me, is the only form of true perfection.

Studies have shown that strengthening hips in multidirectional movements, such as lateral walking, can improve gait.👣👣👣 Notes: 1. Warm up your feet before doing any standing exercises. 2. Focus on your shoulders being even across the top, don’t let one shoulder drop. By keeping the Shoulder girdle in proper positioning can help activate the posterior oblique muscular sling, which is crucial for efficient walking. I’m all about activity, even if it is a short 5 minute workout, but I really think people can do more for themselves than just going to the gym for show or check social media or sit there as their new couch for movies. Aside from the fact that blue light over stimulates your brain from technology and blue light heavy lights in all buildings, you can keep yourself healthier by moving more and spending more time outdoors and with friends/family/sunlight. This helps to reinforce the newly acquired skill, which makes it become easier and easier to complete. Remember when you first started to learn how to ride a bike? A lot of practice went into it initially. But then you were able to ride without training wheels, or your mom, dad, big brother, or big sister helping support you upright. Practice makes permanent! - I gave Dan homework after our last session to complete throughout the week in preparation for today’s session. Today, we reviewed and refined the 360 SWING I taught last week and Dan nailed them! In addition, I introduced the SWITCH CURL today (displayed in video). The SWITCH CURL is a rather simple movement, but in the hands of a beginner they can feel cumbersome. This cumbersome feeling fades fast after practice.
