Yesterday I was interviewed for the @project_loveyourself_ podcast to talk about how to achieve a healthy weight in a sustainable way. . . I was asked a ton of questions. Everything from how can someone overcome emotional eating to what’s the best piece of advice for someone just starting their health journey? . . I loved answering all of the questions, but the last one was definitely the most profound ⬇️ . . Who is the woman you’re becoming? . . This startled me a bit. I never asked myself that before. As someone who believes strongly in personal development and goal setting, I know where I want to go and what I want to achieve, but I never really defined who I want to be. . . When I was asked this question I took a minute to respond, reflected on the answer in my head, looked into my heart, and then replied with conviction: the woman I’m becoming is a leader who shows strength in vulnerability. . . For so long I thought being a leader meant only showing my successes. I feared talking about my struggles because I felt responsible for being the person you look up to. . . I knew you had doubts in your head and I didn’t want to feed that. . . But over the years I’ve grown and realize those struggles are exactly what you need to see, not only to believe it’s possible, but to see it’s possible despite the barriers standing in your way. . . So even though it’s uncomfortable to share at times, I’m going to do it anyway, because I’m choosing to be a woman who leads by showing strength in vulnerability ❤️

Using a narrower grip will increase your range of motion, engage your lats more, and allow you to use more weight. All of these will yield better growth. Personally, the widest I ever go on pull-ups and pull downs is slightly outside shoulder width like I’m doing here. For pull downs, I actually prefer the narrow V attachment instead of the one I’m using here although this is a standard attachment found in just about every gym.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ -⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Two other common mistakes people make when doing lat pulldowns is leaning too far back/using momentum and the opposite which is sitting too upright while failing to lean back at all. Surprise! I'm 40# lighter!! And I feel great! 🌸 I owe this to my favorite super-trainer and her brother for their joint nutrition/fitness program which finally taught me how to use food for energy instead of food for emotional support. I've struggled, yo-yo'd for years. I was told by my doctors to lose weight. I suffered from medical issues due to the weight. I tried pills. I tried WW, JC, MWLC, and many others. I finally gave up - and prayed for a solution. A day later, I saw Autumn's salad story and I finally started to understand what I was doing wrong. Honestly "I tried" so many things before that I didn't bother to take before pictures. I told my husband I doubted it would work - I was doomed to the weight I was...(drama queen sometimes)...but I'd "try". Jump forward, bottom-line - it works! I use to be a late riser - now I'm early to rise and get a workout in... which I enjoy mind you... the endorphins are awesome. I moderate my moves - yep - probably always will do because I prefer low impact. I bring my lunch, which I pack gratefully the night before - based on all the things I like to eat - - those things have changed on the program. What else have I lost? I'm less stressed. I'm less sick. I'm less emotionally exhausted. I'm less inches too - 31" to be exact. Finding a lifestyle has been the greatest gift to not only myself, but my family. By finding my groove, my passion, my family found their mom/wife opening up to new experiences. Talking more. Sharing more. Interested in more. Why?🧐 ... Because I'm happy and overall healthier. 📏Hip hinge One of the toughest movements to master. Are you someone who gets hangry if you don’t have food for a few hours? ⁣ Cause that’s how I am. ⁣ Ya girl here loves to eat. 🥑🍉⁣ ⁣ ⁣ A few months ago was when I started to follow a timed nutrition plan where I eat every 2 ½ - 3 hours helping me to avoid being hangry. Timed nutrition is about using food as fuel for your body so you have sustained energy throughout the day. ⁣ ⁣ 🥑⁣ Now when I say timed nutrition & eating every 2 – 3 hours doesn’t mean I’m eating a full out meal every time. I’ll have my three meals (breakfast, lunch, & dinner) & then in between those I’ll have a healthy snack that will give me energy & keep me full until my next meal. ⁣ ⁣ 🥑⁣ When you follow this type of plan it’s important that you have a good balance of your macros with each meal. ⁣ ⁣ 🥑⁣ For example: ⁣ Before my workouts in the morning I’ll usually eat an Apple along with a veggie mix.⁣ Post workout is when I have my full breakfast of greek yogurt, oatmeal, & my shake. ⁣ Then about 2 ½ hours later I’ll have a snack that might be a light salad, chicken, or a kind bar. ⁣ ⁣ 🥑⁣ When I first started, I set alarms on my phone for every couple hours reminding me to eat so I wouldn’t forget. TIP: JUST START! Do what you can with what you have!⠀ ⠀ Your workout journey (or life in general) won’t always be glamorous and if you’re thinking that is will be... THAT could be stalling your progress.⠀ ⠀ I’ve heard it all.⠀ ⠀ “But you LIKE to workout⠀ I don’t have room⠀ I can’t afford the gym⠀ I’m too busy⠀ It’s too hard”⠀ ⠀ My answer.... don’t make it so complicated!!!
