This past weekend was my second sanctioned powerlifting💪🏼 meet and my first weightlifting🏋️🏽‍♀️ meet (making it a super total event) and it was fabulous! Weighing in at 53.2 kg I lifted close to all of my maxes POWERLIFTS Squat 128.2 kg (282 lbs) Bench 70 kg (154 lbs) Deadlift 145 kg (319 lbs) OLYMPIC LIFTS Snatch 50 kg (110 lbs) Clean and jerk 75 kg (165 lbs) I am pleased with the way that everything went and would like to say a huge thank you to my coach Jeff Wass ( @thehurtlockerllc ) and to my family for coming out to support me 💖 I can't wait for my next one!

Got to workout with my best friend @e_ann.wise in Abilene today! She learned how to squat and deadlift. It felt really nice to lift with and encourage part of my support system. Did Friday’s programming today! Couldn’t go to heavy on the Snatch that I didn’t record because Crunch only had men’s bars, and they didn’t have any spin, but ya know excuses excuses. Ended up getting a C&J PR, elbow was trying to give out, but I got it haha. I learned something new from this post. I switched from push press to strict press because of the way I was lifting on the right. #Repost @coachleeboyce ・・・ PUSH PRESSES are often bastardized by lifters, and the truth is, though it seems like a negligible difference, it determines just how powerful your movement (and training) will be. _ The push press requires a quick burst of force from the legs to transfer energy into the bar from the ground and up through the trunk. The version on the left is the default many lifters end up adopting. Prematurely bending the legs to “receive” the bar, and blending that into the drive phase for the next rep, really truncates the amount of power and force that can be generated to put the bar up overhead. _ For the stretch reflex to be optimized, and for the muscles to contract as explosively as possible, the body needs to be able to “quiet the muscles down” before each rep. That means a controlled negative rep performed while STANDING TALL. Only when the bar makes contact with the body should the lifter begin his descent for the next push press. _ The video on the left is, in truth, a shallow THRUSTER, which I believe to serve a very different purpose. _ Always remember: When it comes to all things EXPLOSIVE POWER (like these push presses, box jumps, or cleans), treat each rep like its own SET. Direct your energy with one sharp burst per rep. Then WAIT, and breathe.
