Meet Rebecca Peh, an Executive from Integrated Support. Upon graduation, she joined the FairPrice MT Programme as FairPrice’s social mission aligned to her personal cause to help the less privileged. From providing customer service to handling logistics, Cashier-Turned-Admin Assistant Carol Chin is truly a jack of all trades! She prioritises good service and goes the extra mile to help shoppers. Customer Ms Tan once left her Visa card on the counter while checking out her groceries. Upon realising that her card was missing, she rushed back and approached Carol who was helping out at the cashier at the time. Carol sprang into action and searched for the missing card, eventually finding and returning it to the grateful customer. For Carol, the simple thank you was a big source of happiness and motivation. Brighten up her day by showing her appreciation in the comments! #FacesOfFP #FPbetterlives FairPrice | Bedok North A

With a radiant smile that instantly brightens up your day, Siti Aminah strongly believes in serving customers from the bottom of her heart. She enjoys meeting new people and also looks out for her customers beyond the call of duty. Regular shopper Ms Yvonne Tan, recalls the time she left a packet of rice at the checkout counter. After realising this, she went back and pleasantly discovered that Siti Aminah had kept it in the back room for safekeeping. Show Siti Aminah some love for her infectious positivity and willingness to lend a helping hand to those who need it. #FacesOfFP #FPbetterlives  FairPrice Finest | Bedok Mall

#FairPriceThrowback to 1989 when Mdm Tan Yoong Yoong had to talk to shoppers in person for feedback to better tailor the operations of FairPrice store at Hougang, Blk 202. 29 years and six branches later, her current role at FairPrice On is similar, but she now uses advanced analytics to understand and cater to the shopping needs of online customers. This transition from physical interaction to data crunching was new for her, but Yoong Yoong took the challenge head-on with a positive spirit. Show her your support by giving this post a thumbs up! 👍 Tan Yoong Yoong, Senior Executive (FairPrice On)

The transition from school to work isn’t always easy. When Janna Xiao (right) first started her internship at FairPrice Rivervale mall in 2016 through our partnership with NorthLight Academy, she faced many challenges. Ms Alice Chia (left), who worked alongside Janna, saw that she was struggling and she leapt in to help. She guided her on how to cope with the new job environment and better manage her time at work.  With less than 5 months till the completion of her internship programme, show Janna your support by leaving some words of encouragement below. #FacesOfFP #FPbetterlives  FairPrice | Rivervale Mall

Say hello to Ms Siam Lee 👋 She started her journey with us at a tender age of 16 and has been working at FairPrice for 40 years! Since her very first placement as a Cashier at our Kallang Bahru store, she has progressed to other responsibilities around the supermarket and is now a Chief Cashier at FairPrice SingPost. When asked about her motivation to stay dedicated to the organisation, Ms Siam Lee attributes it to her passion for customer service and the strong sense of camaraderie among her teammates.  Has Ms Siam Lee’s story inspired you? So today was a hard day as my father in law took a terrible tumble and was admitted to A&E. He has a fractured pelvis and will require round about care from a nursing aide for the next 6 months.. I got home and received this note from a buyer who had collected her items earlier in the day. I was incredibly touched and grateful.😫😭 there are times when doing this little online side business is so tiring and you meet quite a few nasty pple on carousell... the block button sure comes in handy in those occasions 😑 and then you get the opportunity to meet a fellow kindred spirits who shares your love for all things vintage, and you know the items you so lovingly collected and could not even bare to use yourself, is going to someone who truly loves them... that is the motivation I get to keep going at this. Thank you maple syrup girl your note certainly gave me all the feels on this otherwise not so happy day #littlereddotvintage #carousellsg #kitschanddainty #thankyou #thepeoplewemeet #timetaken #towrite #letter #sgvintage #vintagesg #singaporevintage #retrostyle #retrostylesg #yoursingapore #singaporelife #singaporeinsta #igsg #sgig #exploresingapore #peopleofsingapore #sgmummy #sgmum #ourlittlereddot #adayinthelife

"GUI, both the people which constitute it as well as the physical environment, has left a deep broad impression on me unlike any other place or community I’ve come across.⠀ ⠀ I’m certain anyone who has passed through it will have their own set of varying opinions about its beliefs, management and business acumen. But I remember my coaster of a journey with GUI as one underscored by dogged determination, courage, learning and diligence. Attributes which can be used to describe the staff and volunteers.⠀ ⠀ Besides the hot sun on a cloudless day, it warms my heart greatly to meet and call out familiar faces every time I enter the Kampung Kampus. You know who you are. I’ve learnt a lot from the ‘X’ number of people throughout 2 years and counting, and from this, I’m immensely grateful that I’ve yielded friendships and learning experiences of all sorts from people who are great at what they do.⠀ ⠀ Sitting under the kitchen learning tree with those I term ‘masters’ (one of whom is Cynthia). Engaging in some self-directed learning (from, and I emphasize, colleague Huiying) as I sit in the Heart Quarters picking away at spreadsheets. Learning to express myself more. Enjoying the company of people at Touchwood. I count myself immensely blessed to have stumbled upon GUI on that fateful day in Orchard Library during an urban planning workshop conducted by the kampung-chitects – Chia Chia and Bing Yu – both well versed and passionate practitioners of their craft.⠀ ⠀ Singapore needs a space like GUI yet its future can never be guaranteed. Then again nothing is ever fully certain. As the land question hangs in the balance, I will strive to contribute as much as I can back to an organization and group of people which has given me so much, in value which cannot be quantified in monetary terms."⠀ ⠀ —Mun Chung⠀ ⠀ // Do you have your very own #humansofGUI story to tell? “That’s me on my first day volunteering at GUI. Look how happy I am to be with kittens planting and weeding all day. What can I say? I fell in love with the place, my first day just transformed me. I had never felt so close to nature, peaceful and calm. Who would have guessed putting my hands in the dirt would be a form of meditation for my mind? They say if you give you will receive and boy have I received! GUI has given me so much: friends, delicious food, laughter, knowledge, a community which is incredibly welcoming, it feels like family. There’s always new people from different backgrounds with whom you end up having debates about politics or meeting up for a language exchange! The people make this place so alive and I just can’t help but feel at home. I feel so much more grounded since I’ve started volunteering at GUI. When I joined I felt rather lost, each time I tried to chase a new opportunity the doors would slam in my face. I just didn’t know what to do, I felt incompetent, I was losing confidence in myself. But volunteering at GUI was so rewarding, I discovered that I was capable and that I was skillful, it helped me regain my confidence. I learnt that I shouldn’t let my worries control my life, by dealing with them peacefully and knowing that everything will turn out fine. I was complicating my life with everything and anything. When life is so much simpler. Singapore needs GUI because when you are close to nature you get to put everything into perspective, you get to enjoy life the way it comes and you realise obstacles are just steeper steps in life to make you grow into the beautiful human you are. If you drop by Kampung Kampus don’t forget to stop and breathe in the moment, you’ll feel peacefulness wash over you.” —Charlotte Low . // Do you have your very own #humansofGUI story to tell?
