Good luck to @nickbrown26_ as he heads off to Keuka University for his sophomore year playing baseball. Here’s some stats from the beginning of the summer until now. Starting weight- 175.6lbs, end weight- 190lbs. Strength has increased dramatically in all lifts. Vertical jump went from 27.9 to 29.6. Nick also came in with some hip pain, we were able to drastically improve that as well as dramatically improve his him mobility, specially his hip internal rotation. It was great working with you this summer and I look forward to seeing how you do this year! Paige killed her sessions this week she is 11 months post ACL repair. We have started to progress her exercises. I saw my mentor @michael_boyle1959 in an old video talking about one of his favorite exercise is the cable SLDL. Single leg squats and lateral lunges! . Tips: Pay attention to your pelvic position with single leg exercises. If your pelvis is neutral your spine will follow. If your pelvis is rotated, laterally shifted, laterally dropped, then your spine will shift and compensate accordingly. People ask what is functional training? @ultimatesandbag we define Functional training as “compound movements that are targeted at improving movement efficiency based on the natural patterns of human motion.” That’s why we’ve been talking so much about gait and locomotion. If you understand how the body works as a unit rather than seeing the muscles as individual or isolated components then we can start structuring our exercises around connecting these fascial lines of muscle tissue. The bird dog exercise I’m doing in the upper right corner is helping me connect the posterior oblique sling. It’s high nitrate content encourages oxygen uptake in the muscles 💪 We know that it is the lack of oxygen to our working muscles that causes the increase in acidity, preventing us from maintaining a high speed. If the body has a higher uptake of oxygen into the muscles, it can delay the onset of fatigue – sounds great right! 😃 Be mindful that the nitrate content of beetroot differs, so it’s difficult to measure it’s effects on performance, but it’s a super nutritious and delicious veg all the same! 💜 @r_mcgregor
