The major difference between leg press and squat is the amount of weight that can be used in each. Because of the 45 degree angle in the leg press machine, we can load more weight than the squat. Does that mean that the leg press is better? Not really. 1- According to researches: both the leg press & squat give similar results when performed under the same load. 2- Even though the leg press offers a higher load potential, the squat helps you improve your athletic performance since free weights more closely mimic sport-specific movement 3- Even though the leg press only offers a localized stimulation of the quadriceps, hamstrings, and calves (which is amazing for growth) the squat stresses to a certain degree all your back muscles while at the same time focusing on your lower body. So, which is better ? it’s simply not a competition Both the squat and leg press are important in leg training. If for any reason you cannot perform a squat, leg press is a good alternative, if not , both can be integrated in your workout.
