Don’t eat less, eat right. These pictures were taken three weeks apart & the only thing I was doing differently was dialing in my nutrition. No, I am not talking about eating less. I am talking about eating nutritious, whole foods that are serving my body. I am talking about portion control, balancing my macro nutrients & eliminating processed foods. No counting calories or weighing food. No deprivation or feeling stressed. I’m talking about six multi-colored containers that have changed my life & the way I view food. I always thought that if I wanted to lose weight, it would mean having to eat less & cutting tons of calories. It wasn’t until I started using a portion control system & program that taught me how & why I needed certain foods to fuel my body that I really understood how little I knew about what I was actually putting into my body everyday. It’s actually kind of terrifying! This particular program also really helped me dive into my triggers & recognize when I was overeating so I could combat that with healthier habits. It has been a #gamechanger for me. I have a newfound appreciation for food & I am so grateful for everything I’ve learned & continue to learn. If you are anything like me, which I assume most of you are since the number one question I get is about my nutrition, then I know you want to form healthier habits but you aren’t sure where to start. Our bodies are amazing! They can take excess calories from excessive food intake and store it for later, as fat! It’s a great design for times of famine. But in today’s world, most of us have plenty of food and don’t fear an imminent famine. In fact, storing excess fat for years and years, can shorten our life spans and be detrimental to our health! We need to find caloric balance! We shouldn’t be eating 3 large meals a day if all we do is sit all day. Be mindful of your bodies actual needs. Just a glance in the mirror will tell you if you are eating over your bodily needs. Learn to listen to your hunger cues. Then, eat when you feel hungry and stop eating when just satisfied. Try eating 80% whole foods to provide your body with the nutrition it needs, while not overloading your body with too many calories. The remaining 20% can be used for the occasional, less nutritious, but higher calorie, fun food that you love, to keep you happy and enjoying life! Allow yourself to feel hunger! Don’t be afraid of it! It is a normal, healthy sensation that will help you know when to eat and when to stop eating. Food taste so much better when you are actually hungry! Take more walks! With the portion control container meal plan I am allowed 4❤️=proteins 4💚=veggies 2💜=fruit 2💛=carbs 1💙=healthy fat 1🧡-=seeds &dressings 3🥄=oils nuts and butters It’s a lot of food every day. Here is everything I have already ate today. I still get to eat 1 more ❤️ 1 more 💜 2 💚 And it’s almost 4!! So salad with chicken will be my dinner and I still need to eat another fruit. Portion control is key to reaching your goals or maintaining your results. That includes “healthy food.” A lot of people I mentor are eating WAY too much fruit on a daily basis. Just like any other food fruit needs to be portioned out. I always recommend that when you eat a piece of fruit you eat it with another food not alone. Fruit contains sugar which when eaten alone can cause your blood sugar to spike and then crash. Ideally you should only be eating 2 or 3 servings of fruit a day, depending on your weight. If you’re trying to drop pounds berries have the lowest amount of sugar and carbs. Pay attention to serving size and if you ever need a little more support with your nutrition or accountability reaching your fitness goals I’m here for you.

Doing #throwbackthursday a little differently today. And I’m about to talk about something I have never shared here before and most people have no idea about me... . When I was 20-22 I had a severe eating & binge exercising disorder. I never went to a doctor. I was never officially diagnosed with anything. I didn’t have anyone reach out to me and tell me I was too skinny or looking unhealthy (except one person and I got so mad at him I blocked him & we haven’t spoken since). I had a horrible mental attitude and literally didn’t care if I died from starvation. I was eating probably 100 calories a day and then burning maybe 500-1000 or more depending on what i was doing. Very little strength training and hours of cardio. I was obsessed over counting calories and still I try to stay away from that because that issue will always be in the back of my mind. I just wanted to be skinny and petite. I looked in the mirror and I would call myself a beluga whale. I had extreme body dysmorphia & all I cared about was what bones I could see that day and what the number on the scale read. No matter what goal weight I got down to it was never enough and I had another one... and then another one.... I couldn’t stand up without feeling like I was going to pass out. I absolutely hated me. I think about it & it was very very sad. Because I’m still me in here. I’m still Jacqueline- and yes I still don’t like what I see sometimes but I am able to embrace myself and say “I’m a bad bitch”. I’ve had a million different body shapes, I gained 85lbs with my first son, it took FIVE YEARS to lose 50 of that. My body hasn’t been the same since I abused it in my early 20s. I gained 50 with my 2nd and I’ve lost it all already & I’m 7 months pp. This morning I woke up and I took a progress photo and love what the past few months of healthy eating and healthy exercise has done for me not only physically but mentally. I struggle hard sometimes- and I know I’m loud and obnoxious and outgoing on here- but we all have our internal battles. I struggle with mine every.single.day. I know I’m writing a novel but I just want to say thank you guys for being here and you aren’t alone. 💙
