Opening to love, to a new life, to a new person coming into my life (and dominating my love and my life, like no one ever has - I imagine). A few weeks ago, I got to sit down and chat about (my passion) pelvic floor health and yoga with @jenni_rawlings . ⠀ I’m so grateful to her for bringing attention to topic and for having me as a guest! ⠀ Head on over to her page or website to learn how to gain access. ⠀ #Repost @jenni_rawlings with @get_repost ・・・ Compared to places like the hip joint, the shoulder joint complex, and the spine, the pelvic floor tends to get a very low proportion of attention in our yoga classes and yoga teacher trainings. Have you ever noticed? . . . In many yoga classes, the closest we get to focusing on the pelvic floor is repeatedly cueing “mula bandha” (the “root lock” or pelvic floor lift) - if you teach a style of yoga that emphasizes the bandhas, that is. . . . But did you know that there is SO much more to the pelvic floor than mula bandha? The PF is a very complex area, with multiple layers of muscles running in multiple directions. . . . The PF also serves much more of a role in the body than simply “holding the pelvic organs up” (although it helps with that too!) . . . In my brand new online workshop on my website (link in bio!), I interview the amazing @mamaloveyoga_ (aka Lauren Anderson), a yoga teacher & postnatal fitness specialist with her master’s degree in exercise science. . . . Lauren strives to take an evidence-based approach to pelvic floor health, and as such, this interview is full of tons of information on PF anatomy, function & health - but it also contains its fair share of myth-busting, because misconceptions about this area of the body tend to be widespread in the yoga world. . . . 36 weeks pregnant. Which basically means I’m close enough that this baby could come any day, but most likely will not. Hey! I’m a realist people. . . And, with only 4 (ish) weeks to go I finally made it to a prenatal yoga class! O.M.G my soul is full. Life keeps throwing my family curve balls and I can feel the stress sitting in my body so yoga has been calling my name. I am also working hard to set firmer boundaries for myself. I have to slow down. My body can not keep going at the pace I have been pushing. I need rest but I also want time. I want time to sit on the floor and play with trains for hours if that is what Logan wants or to build playdough animals and have random dance parties. I want to rearrange our bedroom a million times to feel like I’m nesting. I want to go to as many prenatal classes as it takes for my hips to loosen up and sit at all the coffee shops if that is what lifts my spirits and prepares me for the best birth and post partum experience I can have. Yes, I am nervous about what’s to come. The unknown is always scary. Yes, I wish our home was done. Yes, we have a few more curve balls to tackle before this baby is born but we’ve got this. I am surrendering myself to these last few weeks and purposely embracing everything that makes me happy and allows me to enjoy this time, because that is what is important to me right now. . . . #36weekspregnant #homestretch #3rdtrimester

It does this so wonderfully that even though my balance isn’t the best, especially since I started growing forward, I still practice it regularly. 😁 .
