Transformation Wednesday from me instead of Tuesday 😜 I decided to check my Bird of Paradise progress. It is a pose I practice rarely if I’m honest. Why ? I don’t really know.I should try to incorporated in my flows more often. 2 years ago I could lift my leg high however I couldn’t straighten it. The part of my hamstrings above the knee were particularly tight. It took a lot of various forward folds and long holds in them for muscles to supple. Remember when working on your hamstrings that hips don’t like to be under stress . Take it nice and gentle, breathe deep and allow breath to create pockets of space and softness in your body. It's been a while guys, so buckle yourselves in for one of Sians infamous stories It started off with a long country lane drive. The moon was gleaming upon us, radio six was playing softly in the background We pulled up to a country pub, decided to stop in for a swift pint before setting off on our adventure. With our bellies full of chips and ale, we set off Up the hill we walked, torch in one hand, a sneaky smoke in the other We went off route, clambering up the muddy bank, pushing back the scattered tree branches And there it stood. In all its remaining glory. Through the graveyard we trecked, into the Church, and back out into the graveyard again The night sky was crisp and clear as we looked up, the stars shining in all their beautiful glory, displaying themselves perfectly for us to see We took a stroll to Tintern Abbey. With our Ale in our backpack, we jumped over the wall and snuck into the Abbey. The entire building was lite up inside which just added to the magic of the night. We sat down inside the Abbey, took out of Ale and had a drink. We didn't say much to each other. It was one of those perfect moments where no words had to be said. The cold chill of the night soon surrounded us, so off we snuck, back over the wall, out into the car, heating blasting to warm up our cold bones, and radio six playing all the way home Possibly one of my favourite nights I've ever had #shewolfwednesdays

Self compassion, like backbends, for me have been a huge practice. Both have taken time and commitment. Just like we can work on our back strength and flexibility, I believe we can work to strengthen the self compassion muscle. We can practice speaking to ourselves with love and warmth. We can find ways to reconnect with our inner voice....Spending time alone, spending time doing the things we love... weather that’s music, cooking, dancing, walking, yoga. It takes practicing the art of acceptance and forgiveness. Treating ourselves with the kindness the majority of us so freely give to others. This is something that takes time. I still sometimes struggle to forgive myself in times where I fall short. I still sometimes struggle to raise the voice of love over that of criticism... but the more I practice, the more I speak and think kind words and thoughts.. the stronger that muscle feels. The more I believe the things I’m telling myself. The more I accept. The more I forgive. The more I love. ❤️

Happy new week beautiful yogis ☀️ Week 2 of #AshtangaMondays This week we will go through Padangustasana and pada Hastasana 🙆🏻‍♀️ Benefits: Forward folds, including these two standing ones, offer a detoxifying effect on the internal organs of the abdomen. They’re especially helpful in staving off digestive issues, providing relief for the discomfort of stomach ailments, constipation, bloating, acidity, and flatulence. As they bring the head below the heart, these standing forward folds have the added benefit of encouraging blood flow towards the brain, helping to regulate blood pressure. Moving into these postures calmly and simply, without strain or tension, can be a soothing experience. Settling into these postures helps ease stress and anxiety – but only if you’re careful not to allow that stress to become a part of the posture itself. Let the head hang heavy with the neck relaxed, and keep the shoulders lifted and light, not crunched up by the ears. Most importantly, remember to breathe, paying attention to the way each inhale and exhale moves through the posture. . My thoughts 💭 This is not only a forward fold to me, it’s also a spine stretch. I think it feels in every vertebra how they relax and also separate from each other. ‘Sometimes, it’s okay if the only thing you have done today was breathe’ ✨ . I was sent this quote by a friend a few years ago when I was really struggling with my anxiety. I’ve always been someone who puts so much pressure on myself, having to make everyday full of ‘productivity’, feeling disheartened and frustrated if I didn’t manage to do the things I thought I ‘needed’ to do. Sometimes I’d lay in bed at night thinking, ‘oh I have really just wasted the day’. . I started a habit of thinking and writing down the things I have achieved in the day before I go to sleep. Some day’s... like today, I got SO much done, and finished all of the jobs I needed to do. Other days however, the thought of even getting dressed seems like the hardest of tasks. I make sure I practice this everyday, regardless of whether I consider my day to have been ‘productive’. The more I practice and think about my days, the more I note down the little things, then the more I realise I’ve accomplished a lot more that I thought. Some examples of the things I used to just miss from my list include,making my bed, sitting down to eat breakfast, washing my face, finishing a few more pieces of my puzzle,having a phone call with my sister, some days, especially in the past, even getting out of bed was an accomplishment. . So if you’re finding a day particularly challenging... it’s okay to take the pressure off. It’s okay to focus of the little wins, like getting out of bed, washing your face and brushing your teeth. It’s okay to slow things down. It’s okay to leave some things for another day. And like the quote says... it’s okay if the only thing you have done today is breathe.❤️

Wanstead / Woodford yogis I teach a 6:30am Ashtanga-inspired class every Thursday morning at this lovely studio @airyogastudio in South Woodford (right next to the central line station)👆🏼👆🏼👆🏼 . We gather in the pitch black and warm up our bodies with sun salutations and postures from the primary series, always finishing with pranayama to set us up for the day ahead. . Savasana is by candlelight but the sun is usually starting to shine in through the windows as we come back 🥰 . It’s a total mix of experience levels and beginners are always welcome! Those who are already familiar with Ashtanga can move straight into the postures and enjoy a few extra breaths as I give a little more explanation newcomers 🙏🏽 . One of the millions of things I LOVE about ashtanga is the structure. The alignment. In a life full of sharp turns and sudden bumps, roller coasters and whirl pools, ashtanga keeps me centred and in line with myself. My physical is so in tune with my spiritual and higher self. When I feel in line with myself, my body follows. 💙 what I guess I'm trying to say is, these lines here are a reflection of how I feel in my soul today, on track and ready what whatever is to come.
