🌎🌟 Tuesday morning check-in with @mattjansen8 vs. today’s checkin. Yesterday was our refeed, approximately 320g. Dropped 2lbs overnight (this has never happened before, second refeed tomorrow. I’ll talk more in detail about what we looked for (which subsequently is what I look for with my clients) when planning these refeeds in my next YouTube prep vlog this weekend. But in short, way fuller and more energy and tighter was the result, and the weight drop made me really happy to see as well. Sometimes when you get to the gym you're weaker than usual and this can be confusing. We've all had those days where everything feels heavier, harder and you just don't feel as though you're able to train with the usual intensity. . . Here are 3 reasons why this happens to you. . . . Dehydration . If you're dehydrated this means your body is not as able to distribute oxygenated blood around the body with its usual efficiency. As a result fatigue is able to suppress performance levels quicker, leading to an overall reduction in intensity and strength. There should never be an excuse for being dehydrated. . . . Stress . If you're stressed when you get to the gym then it means cortisol levels will be up which can limit focus. Usual amounts of stress are OK but when you're extremely stressed you will not perform as well because of the distraction this creates and the physiological impact on blood flow and anabolic hormones for instance. . . . Missed meals . If you've missed meals before training you know performance will suffer. This is because net calorie intake is down, you're also behind on essential macro and micro nutrients which drive performance forward. Blood sugar levels will probably plummet equating to poor energy output.  You will also be more susceptible to catabolism in this instance so do NOT allow yourself to miss meals in the day! . . . . #gymrat

Calc max of 510 lbs 🚨 *** Effectively tying my all-time #PRSet *** --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Clip 1: Jan 20, 2018. The last time I ever did this, at bw 188.6 lbs. Clip 1: Jan 20, 2018. And now at 179.5 lbs.... 9 lbs lighter. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I aint gonna 😭 or shed a 😢 I've honestly been pretty numb to emotion for a very long time. Which why your rarely see me🔥up & screaming 📣 much anymore. But this set, you can see the psychological boast. I was determined to get 6 reps or 💀 tryin. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- You know hard it is staying optimistic & positive when you've been doing much less weight than a year earlier. People would be amazed seeing me do 405 x4 and all I could think of, I used to do this for 8 reps. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now both squats and deadlifts have touched my all-time production levels. Now, I'll start focusing on DeadLift. Bench is still way behind. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lastly, I know I might/likely come across as a "show off" But if I don't project the mindset of where I wanna be, it ain't happening (Law of Attraction). I’m going to tell you right now they aren’t for the faint of heart ❤️ : But, they can burn a significant amount of calories in a very short period. : They can be done after a workout or as your workout if you’re low on time or as part of a cardio day. Check this one out👇🏼 : It’s a circuit of 5 exercises. Deadlift, bent over rows, hang cleans, overhead press and squat. Do each exercise sequentially one right after the other completing 4-6 reps for each. TRY YOUR BEST NOT TO PUT THE BARBELL DOWN UNTIL THE CIRCUIT IS FINISHED. : Once you have finished the circuit rest 60-90 seconds and repeat 4-6 more times 😈 😬 : Make sure you pick a weight that you are able to use with your weakest lift. Rubbing your lower back again after squats again 😩? . . Are you thinking to yourself it’s normal because I low bar squat and using my back in the squat is acceptable? Well I guess to a certain extent 🙄. . . More importantly the low bar squat does allow you to use your back more in terms of moving the weight, but you are not actually using the lower back to muscle the weight up 😱. . . Your lower back for the most part should be pretty stationary and not actually moving 😫. If you find yourself using your lower back to lift the weight then you are probably not using the proper technique and body mechanics to effectively move the weight 🤦‍♂️. . . We’ve witness countless athletes that squat this way. The response is always the same my back is killing me after squatting. My legs are never sore from squatting, but I feel it a lot in my back ❌. . . Even if you can move a lot of weight using your lower back but are you willing to risk your future progress for short term strength gains with poor movement pattern 🧐? . . I didn’t think so because your ability to squat effectively with great technique will yield much more strength results 💪. I am talking adding pounds and pounds of weight in the future. Don’t cut yourself short and risk the chance of injury and take action to learn how to lift heavier weights efficiently 🙌.
