SQUAT HELP - Going through this movement can help groove a good squat pattern and help with some mobility too. - One thing I forgot to mention in the video itself that’s actually a biggie and currently a little harder for me to do (I blame the bump) is keeping a neutral spine throughout this movement. A nice big exhale before you push back can help with that. Only go as far back as you can until your pelvis rounds, which you can just start to see in my demo. You want to stop right before that point. - Try this one out and see how they feel. Pumping out the heavy weights today. My goal was do a 5x5 Deadlifts after maxing out in my 5x5 squats, but I couldn't get those last 2 reps in. And you know what? That's okay! It's always important to listen to your body when it's telling you NO 👎. I personally haven't been working on heavy Deadlifts recently and my back muscles weren't having it today. Exercise shouldn't cause pain when you're doing it. Yes, youll be sore. Yes, there are times when you will be uncomfortable. But if something doesn't feel right, don't do it because more than likely you're in the wrong form or you're lifting too heavy. Listen to your body. Set small goals and you'll acheive the big ones. 💪 On another note, I was able to pump out 8 reps of 185# Deadlift after pumping TEN squats at #! Years back when I started actually squatting some decent weight, I would often see this guy in a wheelchair. He would come in and put in work! Whatever he could do. Once in a while I would catch him from my peripheral, staring at me with this look in his eye. Not sure what he was thinking, but I remember thinking to myself that I would never take my legs for granted, nor any of my physical abilities to that point. Time passed and I remember talking to a guy who was asking for advice, as he explained that he was getting into health and fitness after 2 mild heart attacks due to high cholesterol. At that time, I wasnt eating healthy. (THERES A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN EATING FOR HEALTH AND EATING FOR MUSCLE/PHYSIQUE) After that talk, I told myself that I would learn to make healthier eating choices, so that it never comes to that for me. I later had a conversation with a friend who was depressed at the time. He admitted to me that he thought of ending his life. Every word he spoke was negative. He saw no good in anything. From that time, I told myself that I never want to be in that mind state. From that, I started looking into bettering my mental wellbeing. The point I'm getting to, is that for me, there is too much glamour in fitness nowadays. Many are too focused on abs, big muscle or lifting heavy, with no concern to being functional, like a human should be. No concern to true internal health, nor any focus to a healthier mind state. For me, these things have become more important....my main priorities. I have so much to learn and practice, but I'm ready! IN HEALTH AND FITNESS, EVERYTHING MATTERS, BUT WHAT MATTERS THE MOST IS THAT IT MATTER TO YOU! On a different note. This was absolutely awful. 15 sets of squats. Did 10 x 7 with bands and 135 and the final 5 with bands and 165. Not heavy. Just a ton of volume with an explosive concentric on each rep.
