Here’s another few clips from @willbrightt’s training sessions. To finish his sessions over the last 2 phases (hypertrophy and strength) we have used some specific plyometric drills and core drills combined as a finisher. - The purpose of this has been to condition Will to maintain his power output and quality of movement whilst fatigued. The core movements increase the taxation of his stabiliser muscles to make this more difficult. - Will already had a high level of athletic development, however he is demonstrating great improvements in his performance in the gym which will carry over to his performance on the court. - We are adding in more sport-specific movements as we draw nearer his season (such as the weighted jump shots). - Next phase will be focused on peaking power output with more dynamic variations to the lifts. - #health #fitness #strength #training #power #strengthtraining #s&c #strengthandconditioning #pt #cardiffpt #progress #gains #goals

So @katie.strongwoman is working towards a max Deadlift, I've got her using banded deadlifts, but using 2 bands, this is something I've been doing some research into. My theory is, not only do the 2 bands allow for a smoother resistance curve, this type of training may teach the body to move quicker through a sticking point. As you are performing a high speed lift, with a gradually increasing load, there's potential for a neuromuscular adaptation, leading to a lessening of the sticking point. This theory may also be total bollocks, but aside from that it's a good variation, it works, and it has been proven to work. This is not to say its a one size fits all approach, as its a method that I only use with a few of my athletes, who are closing in on maximal lifts. #strengthandconditioning #sportsscience #deadlift #strongman #powerlifting #S&Cresearch

Ive been utilizing belt squats alot the last couple years to train heavy squatting movements with compressing my spine. They have helped a ton with my hip mobility and strength. Patience • The capacity to accept or tolerate delay, problems and change without becoming annoyed or anxious. •••••••••• Snatch is something which I struggle with because of mobility problems in certain areas and various injuries but I still expect myself to be able to do more with the strength I have. Keeping patience when things go wrong is key to success. A mind that is not focused leads to more mistakes and therefore less patience, a bad cycle to be in.

🔸Hang power clean🔸 . • Hit some hang power cleans today, with some quick reps to keep my oly lifting up and also as part of my power development session 👌🏽. . . • I was careful to keep my wrists stiff and not let the bar roll back due to my sprained wrist that I’m still nursing 👍🏽. . . • But feeling powerful, getting stronger, gotta just keep the diet up and it will all fall in place 💪🏽.

Nice to recieve this today from @amyannmoon before she jets off on her holiday!! 😎 First photo - current appearance Second photo - this time last year Amy came to me at the start of this year, and since then has improved massively. From starting off with struggling to shoulder press 2/3kg dumbbells to now smashing huge numbers on shoulder press, squats, leg press, sled push’s, chest to floor burpees, I could go on and on!! 😅👏 - - In a nutshell, this woman has an unreal attitude, never misses a pt, never shy’s away from something and is always keen to learn and try new exercises. Is a top top laugh but knows when to put the work in. Consistency is key and she has that in abundance!! - - Weekly double sessions paying off massively, and like I told her last week she is looking incredible and its the happiest and best i’ve ever seen her!! 👏 Said she feels great, and that makes me feel great 👏.
