Today I was majorly on the struggle bus... didn’t sleep particularly well last night, but at least more than the 3-4 hours from the past couple nights. That finally hit me today, plus I was super sore from class yesterday and I think my body was just like... nope. I cleaned and did laundry and some computer work, but all of my grand plans to meet up with people or go to a class just evaporated. Finally I dragged myself out and did a mile #runmute test with the new backpack! I think it was fine? No bouncing or chafing, so that was good. On the way there it held two phones, keys, and a long sleeved shirt, and on the way back one banana, two avocados, and blueberries. I’d say it was pretty successful! Less successful: selfie attempts underway 😂 I picked it for the handy phone pouch to take photos, so that worked well at least. At @crunchfitnesschevy I did my PT stuff, walked on the #treadmill while watching @jeopardy to make up some steps (in the process finding out Saturday is Batman Day 😁), and then did four #sevenminuteworkout apps in a row (and then more PT, because my knees are not that happy 😞). Here is Routine 2 of my long term program as provided in what I call my Fitness Bible, #thenewHIT by Dr. Ellington Darden. Felt pretty off last week, ended up taking it off. There are times when you feel off, but should work through it; there are times when you feel off, and should take a break. While it can be tough to know the difference, learning it can make a significant impact on your progress. While I initially considered working through my off feeling last week, I decided to take it off because I had been in the gym fairly consistently for the prior at least 6 months, though only 6 weeks into this specific program. So I took it off, and am feeling significantly better about getting back into the gym this week. A take away from looking at this routine vs the previous one is: routine changes don’t have to be major to make a major impact. This routine only changes 3 out of 12 exercises from the first one, while the other 9 day the same, with a slight variation in the order they’re to be performed. Another major significance with this routine is the introduction of NTF (not to failure) days, which will take place during the workout 2 of 6 during each 2 week window. So I will have 3 NTF workouts during the time of this routine, which should have a significant positive impact on recovery and development.
