“You looking at me” oh it is me 😝 . Anyway enough chit chat, let’s talk about stress levels and it’s effect on weight loss . I’m sure there is some scientific explanation on the relationship between high stress levels and the negative effect it has on your hormones/ body when it comes to weight loss. However I don’t think this is why most people put on/don’t lose weight. Let me explain.... . I don’t think it takes a rocket scientist to work out that been stressed may lead to bad eating habits and poor training habits. . It’s easy to turn towards life’s comforts when your feeling stressed out: Junk food, sugar, cosey up on the sofa rather than exercising. Unfortunately this off course isn’t good for weight loss . If I’m been honest I don’t think it’s the effect stress has on your body that will stop you from losing weight, but rather the effect it has on your ability to make healthy choices . There is nothing wrong with having a general ongoing weight loss goal, but I find those that stay the most motivated are the ones working towards a specific date/event. Why not focus on Christmas (15 weeks), maybe an X-Mas party . 𝟐: Implement some form of weight training into your routine. Don’t worry ladies your not going to get massive from hitting a few resistance sessions. Gaining muscle is good for fat loss and will benefit your overall body composition. If your more of a cardio bunny there’s nothing wrong with that but I would recommend at least 1 weights session a week . 𝟑: Take it at a sensible pace. It’s doesn’t have to be all or nothing, and even though yes intensity is good don’t feel you have to go 💯 miles an hour all the time. Especially for those that carry injuries or are prone to injuries. For me CONSISTENCY will always top trump intensity. 𝐏𝐲𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐝 𝐃𝐢𝐞𝐭: Start at the bottom of the pyramid (higher calories) and slowly work to the top of the pyramid (Lower calories) as you get closer to your event . 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐛 𝐂𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠: Eat differing amounts of carbs on different days. Protein and fats remains the same throughout. For example: Mon= 150g carbs, Tues = 100g, Wed = 150g, Thurs = 100g, Friday = 150g . 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐯𝐞: Basically the same as Carb cycling but with your overall calorie intake. For example: Mon= 2000kcals, Tues = 1,500kcals, Wed = 2,000kcals, Thurs = 1,500kcals , Friday = 2,000kcals . 𝟓/𝟐 𝐃𝐢𝐞𝐭: 5 days normal eating (controlled calories) 2 days low calories (500-1000kcals) . 𝐊𝐞𝐭𝐨: High fats, Low/Zero carbs. For the body to enter ketosis carbs should be below 50g a day . 𝟏-𝟐-𝟑 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧 (𝐋𝐌 𝐅𝐢𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐞𝐭): Week 1 = 1 day zero carbs, week 2 = 2 days zero carbs, week 3 = 3 days zero carbs. Zero day = less than 50g, ideally under 25g. Normal day is sensible carbs and sensible calories . All these diets have one main thing in common, structure & control. Regardless of your diet choice, a diet is only effective if it’s stuck to, it really is as simple as that Yes you have to find a diet that works for you but the basis of a successful diet is discipline and consistency! . 𝐌𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐎𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐬 . I see these everywhere now, big shops, small shops, petrol stations, gyms, pharmacies etc . Here’s my take💭 . You will never beat straight up fresh, clean, unrefined, natural food sources......... BUT sticking to a diet that’s 100% this just isn’t always possible . ...Enter🚪the supplements industry . I tend to use Protein bars as a quick on the go snack alternative or sometimes in order to curb a craving . I try not to make the habit of having them too often, maybe 1 or 2 bars every few days whilst still priding my diet on 70-80% clean food sources . I also restrict the amount of these foods/products the deeper into a fat loss diet I get. The more restrictive my calories become the less calories I would waste on these kind of products . 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔: Take part in the social event but restrict the amount of bad calories you consume. Swap a few drinks for a Diet Coke, order a healthy option off the menu etc . 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗕: Enjoy your social event without a care in the world.... but work hard around it & earn it! Put in some extra cardio, drop your calories around the event (bank some calories) . 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖: Give zero #Ks (excuse my language). Don’t put in the extra work and enjoy the event/events to the fullest . Disclaimer- Option C will = zero progress & most probably result in you going backwards on your results. There is no shame in this but don’t be that guy/gal that then sits there & moans they are fat! . 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐛 𝐂𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 & 𝐌𝐲 𝟏-𝟐-𝟑 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧 . As promised here is a post on carb cycling . Carb cycling is where you eat different amounts of carbs on different days to create a wave or cycle. This system allows your body to shed fat without having to dip your carbs too low 100% of the time. It’s always a nice feeling knowing you can eat more carbs on certain days. You must still have control though! . Simple version= . ✔️Monday- 100g . ✔️Tuesday- 200g . ✔️Wednesday- 100g . ✔️Thursday- 200g . ✔️Friday- 100g . Im not going to get too technical on this one.... mainly because I don’t know how 😂 but it’s doesn’t take a degree in nutrition to figure out a low carb/calorie day is going to be great for Fat Loss . I’ve said it numerous times, I believe carbs tend to be the key when it comes to shredding fat so if you can restrict/ control your carb intake you will increase your bodies ability to burn through fat stores. . Now IMO one of the issues with carb cycling is the ball ache of tracking your carbs on each day. It can become confusing & more time consuming especially if you bulk cook your meals for a few days like myself . So I’ve come up with a much more simple plan. My 1-2-3 plan . ✔️Week 1- 1 day zero carbs (less than 25g) . ✔️Week 2- 2 days zero carbs . ✔️Week 3- 3 days zero carbs . ✔️Week 4- Repeat back to the start of the cycle . Everyone knows what a carb is, so my system just requires you to not eat any carbs on selected days. Only protein & fats on these days. Then week by week you add an extra day of zero carbs in (progressive style of dieting) .
